After being relinquished by her guardians, who could no longer manage her veterinary expenses, a puppy named Grace was entirely unaware of what awaited her in the future.
Due to her significant illness and lack of a diagnosis, Grace’s sole aspiration was to discover a nurturing family eager to do everything possible to determine what was ailing her.
Fortunately, The Animal Pad, a rescue organization in San Diego, California, made contact with the ideal family.
Taking It Slow
Her first night in her new Californian abode surrounded by unfamiliar faces was challenging for Grace.
She possessed virtually no vitality, and spent most of her nights curled up in a heap of blankets, whimpering and whining. This was her method of signaling to the compassionate individuals that something was wrong.
“We were awake the entire night with her. She was extremely underweight.” Katie remarked to The Dodo.
Regardless of their efforts to feed her, Grace simply showed no interest. However, on the rare occasions she did manage to take a small morsel, the family was genuinely thrilled.
They encouraged her with every little bite, praying that the next would be even larger.
“Every time she would wag her tail, which was infrequent, it truly brightened our day,” she continued.
Emerging from Her Shell
As time elapsed, the affectionate and joyful atmosphere undoubtedly enhanced Grace’s well-being. She began to behave like a puppy anew!
Initially, though, she would play with her family while lying down. But with abundant encouragement from her family, she began to dash around!
