For Donna Lochmann, from Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Missouri, there has been a single mission throughout her remarkable dog-rescue journey – to assist as many as she can!
As the Chief Life-Saving Officer, Donna has facilitated countless canines in discovering their forever homes across the nation, and now was the moment for yet another rescue!
This occasion, however, was particularly special! Here’s the reason…
Here Comes The Furriest Surprise
Lochmann and the SRSL squad had been striving to rescue Hulu, the female stray dog that had been roaming the streets for quite a while.
This shy girl was merely skin and bones and urgently required assistance. The challenge, however, lay in the fact that she was nearly impossible to capture!
Hulu was a nursing mother caring for her newborn puppies nearby. She excelled at concealing them from the harsh conditions and threats, but Donna and the team found it exceedingly challenging to locate them. Until, one day, it occurred!
They set a humane trap filled with delightful treats for Hulu. After hours of patience, this dog mom finally ventured in and was successfully rescued.
A short while later, Donna and her fellow volunteer heard whimpering sounds from one of the vacant houses within the vicinity. As they examined the crawl space under the house, they were taken aback by what they discovered!
There was a large litter of puppies snuggled together on a pile. Only a few days old and extremely small, they all appeared to be in superb health.
Donna promptly sprang into action and crawled into the small space to reach the pups. Once she got a little closer, she was astonished to count ten tiny babies!
“A mother and 10 puppies have been rescued from the rough streets. Although full of nourishment, she was skin and bones. You won’t believe where we found her puppies,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis posted on Facebook.
The Happily Ever After
After an extensive search and rescue, the pups were safely transported to the facility. The SRSL team immediately settled the pups into a cozy room with their mom.
Hulu proved to be a fantastic and nurturing mother from the very beginning. She continually cared for her pups, provided nourishment, and ensured they remained warm.
The entire team was immensely proud of Hulu and her exceptional parenting abilities. Despite lacking adequate resources or a roof over her head, she managed to keep her little ones secure.
And, now they will never have to dread life on the streets again!
Months following her rescue, Hulu and her family embarked on a new chapter in loving homes. This dog mother found an exquisite forever home with a woman named Debbie and her family.
She has relished years in a spacious abode and boundless adventures within a large family. Each day for Hulu is now filled with joy and affection, as it was always meant to be.
Her new mom shared a memory, expressing gratitude to Donna for giving her beloved girl a chance. “My Hulu was rescued three years ago. She is such a delightful and quirky dog. Thank you, Donna Lochmann, for always agreeing to a rescue,” Debbi posted on Facebook.
Thanks to Donna and her extraordinary team, Hulu and her puppies obtained a renewed opportunity at life. And, their happiness is unparalleled!
