Peter Piper is the type of canine that captures your heart immediately!
This adorable, crystal-blue-eyed stray was discovered protruding from an old pipe at a construction site in St. Louis, Missouri – with the most altruistic intention ever!
Peter Piper took his task sincerely, safeguarding the old, unused pipes from unwelcome intruders, and when construction workers ventured a bit closer – they soon uncovered the reason!
Introducing Peter Piper, The Greatest Doggo Dad Ever
The construction team aimed to assist Peter, but he was just too anxious at that moment. Each time they tried to approach a little closer, he growled at them, and they quickly realized why!
The workers listened to echoes of whimpers from deep within the pipes – and they instantly recognized that the dog was defending his litter.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t get near enough to check for themselves, so they reached out to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, who promptly dispatched their top rescuers to the location.
Donna Lochmann, the head life-saving officer, along with a few of her colleagues arrived swiftly – and they immediately sprang into action!
Initially, everyone was completely convinced that the dog emerging from the pipe was a dog mother protecting her young.
Donna cautiously approached the dog, tossing small morsels of food in his direction, and before long – she won his trust!
Once she got close enough to slide a leash around the dog’s neck, she was astonished – the dog was a male, not a female!
The entire team was utterly amazed to discover a dog dad safeguarding his litter, as typically a mother is seen with her offspring. In her extensive career, this was likely the first instance she encountered a male dog nursing his puppies – and it was truly heartwarming!
Shortly after she secured the dad, Donna and her team successfully extracted all three puppies from the pipe and transported them safely to the shelter.
“They were concealed so far back in these pipes it took us ages, but Donna managed to get them all! It turns out to be a dad (about a year old) and three pups, around four months old. They are all absolutely stunning,” the SRSL team shared on their Facebook.
On To A Wonderful Beginning
The excellent news is that all four of them were in superb condition! The veterinarian cleared them following the initial examination, further confirming that Peter Piper performed remarkably well caring for his little ones.
The puppies were named Paisley Piper, Patrick Piper, and Penelope Piper. Before long, all four found their way to different foster homes, learning the ropes of being family doggos for the first time!
Peter Piper, the most incredible dad in the universe, swiftly adjusted to his new foster family, and he couldn’t be more delighted!
He’s a complete sweetheart who loves the companionship of his humans and fellow dogs. But, above all – he adores squeaky toys and lounging on the couch!
“I was discovered with some other pups at a construction site, but have truly enjoyed being an indoor dog ever since my rescue. Toys (especially squeaky balls), couches, and naps are my favorite things! I may seem a bit shy at first, but with a few pets and a couple of “good boy” praises, I’ll be your best friend,” the SRSL team noted.
When the moment arrives, we’re entirely pawsitive that this courageous dad will be an outstanding companion for some fortunate family!
