Whenever a canine enthusiast encounters a post about a lost dog, they invariably feel for the owner and ponder where that pet could be.
A rescuer named Rian Feldman found herself in that situation.
Upon viewing a notice regarding Scout, a treasured local canine who had gone missing, Rian simply could not shake the thoughts of the lovable pup from her mind.
An Extremely Recognizable Face
On a misty afternoon, Rian along with her companion, Scooter Belasco, were traversing a New Jersey highway, chatting about the absence of the lovely Scout which had occurred a few days earlier.
While continuing their discussion, all of a sudden, they spotted a familiar figure dashing across the roadway.
“At that precise instant, she dashed out of the forest into the road right in front of our vehicle. We both gasped and realized simultaneously … Scooter hit the brakes hard, and we devised a plan on the spot. There wasn’t a moment to waste, because she had been missing for three days and we knew we couldn’t leave without her,” Rian recounted.
Since Rian and Scooter manage Uncle Neil’s Home animal sanctuary in New Jersey, they were more than eager to leap out of the vehicle and take Scout back home where she belonged.
Regrettably, capturing her proved to be a challenging endeavor.
Attempting to catch her was quite stressful. Her family was in a panic and clueless about her whereabouts. Initially, she fled from us, and I pursued her as swiftly as I could while Scooter followed in the vehicle. We eventually closed the distance and made sure to squat down low so she would feel at ease to come towards us.
Eventually, Scout drew close enough for Scooter to seize her by the collar and safely bring her into their vehicle.
Scooter lifted her and placed her in our rear seat. The moment we closed the door, an immense sense of relief enveloped us.
Once Scout was in the car, it seemed as though a wave of calm washed over her. She began to unwind and even radiate joy, understanding that she was in secure hands and heading home.
She grinned, gazed out the window during the journey, and we were encouraging her, telling her she was on her way back home. We passed by the ‘lost dog’ posters, and I distinctly recall feeling so thankful that those posters could finally be taken down.
Home Again
Rian felt immense joy upon witnessing the happiness radiating from the family as they reunited with their cherished Scout.
It was a remarkable moment to behold. Rian could finally find solace, knowing that Scout was no longer lost and isolated, but had returned home to her family where she was meant to be.
Scout’s family was overjoyed, utterly relieved. They embraced us and expressed their gratitude … They mentioned that their entire year had been brightened with Scout back home.
