On a day in Texas, a forsaken tiny puppy was looking for shelter beneath Abigail’s automobile, whimpering for assistance.
Her delicate and malnourished form bore a striking resemblance to a bony figure, illustrating the severity of her profound frailty.
The kind-hearted rescuers reached out with aid by offering her nourishment and hydration, while giving her some distance as she quaked in anxiety.
Ultimately, she found the strength to venture out from her hiding spot on her own.
Rescuing Ellie
When the pup – eventually named Ellie – emerged from underneath the car, Abigail (Ellie’s rescuer) swiftly placed a leash around her neck.
Ellie was completely terrified. “She just kind of went into turtle mode,” Abigail recounted to The Dodo.
However, at that time, the most crucial priority was to transport her to the veterinarian immediately. They were concerned she might have parvo – an extremely contagious and lethal virus if not addressed.
Fortunately, it wasn’t parvo.
“Our vet informed us that she had been consuming so much trash, her stomach was truly suffering. But within a few weeks, she should be perfectly fine,” Abigail shared.
The unfortunate sweetheart had survived by scavenging on rubbish for who knows how long, but luckily, she ended up in the care of someone who would assist her recovery.
At the vet, Abigail discovered that Ellie was merely around six months old, meaning she was still just a pup.
Even though it was hard to tell just by observing her dry and flaky fur, Ellie was genuinely a Golden Retriever mix.
During her first few days at Abigail’s residence, Ellie remained quite frightened.
“She was entirely unresponsive for the first couple of days. But she began to understand that we weren’t going to harm her. It was truly just about coaxing her to come out of her shell,” Abigail stated.
Growing Into A Beautiful Golden Girl
After a few days had passed, she finally found the vigor to go outside.
“The tennis ball caught her eye and she was instantly captivated. She wanted to play; it was just part of her nature. From that moment forward, she was noticeably improved,” Abigail remarked.
It was heartwarming to witness Ellie being lively and behaving like a puppy ought to behave.
Gradually, she transformed into a spirited and amusing little canine. Her skin and fur were also becoming healthier with each passing day.
“We really ensured that she felt secure and at ease.”
Now, Ellie is a completely transformed pet – nearly unrecognizable. She grew into a stunning Golden girl with a beautiful coat and a vibrant personality.
She loves car excursions, poking her head and paws through the window, and visiting the beach.
The first occasion they brought her to the beach to celebrate her recovery, she was the most joyous little girl imaginable.
“She started digging, and she got an incredible case of the zoomies, darting around the beach while gazing out over the ocean. She absolutely adored it. It was such a significant moment for her.”
Ellie is a genuine survivor and she diligently worked to reach her current state. She made a truly remarkable recovery.
Ellie has her own Instagram profile if you wish to follow her and observe more of her journey.
