When this small pup was discovered on a rooftop, everyone was astonished by the way he ended up there initially.
Terrified, completely alone, and in urgent need of assistance, the puppy was clueless about how to get away. He remained there, wishing to be rescued promptly. And that’s when compassion displayed its genuine essence!
The residents of the apartment building didn’t hesitate. One of them contacted the kind folks at Austin Animal Center in Texas, who arrived at the scene without delay.
Desperate And In Need Of Assistance
Staci Figueroa and her partner, Erica Cerza, reached the location within moments. Upon seeing the puppy perched on the rooftop, these two animal rescue officers from Texas were taken aback by how he got there.
It turns out he wandered down the corridor of the apartment complex and then through the railing, directly onto the roof.
The challenging part was – he had no idea how to return!
The rescue team observed a small, sizable opening in the metal right beside the puppy. Should he accidentally fall through that, the rescue would have been nearly impossible.
That’s why Staci and Erica acted without delay and moved swiftly.
With assistance from a resident, they resolved to remove one of the pickets in the fence that was positioned adjacent to the roof. Using a screwdriver, they entirely extracted it – simplifying the subsequent tasks.
When they finally had a clear view of the puppy, Cerza reached out for him.
“With the help of a resident and her handy screwdriver, our officers were able to remove one of the pickets from the fence and get the little guy out. Once he was safe, the picket was replaced as if nothing had occurred,” AAC shared on Facebook.
Successful Rescue Operation
Then, moments later, he began to play with her hair, signifying that he had begun to feel much more at ease.
When the puppy was ultimately secured, the rescuers requested the apartment complex management to alert residents regarding the puppy in case anyone had misplaced him. Unfortunately, no one stepped forward.
He was securely transferred to the shelter, where he received additional care and was given the name – Wicket!
This little one took merely a few days to fully come out of his shell and display to everyone how genuinely playful and affectionate he truly was. And, as the ultimate reward for his friendly demeanor, he was soon presented with the most wonderful surprise!
Wicket found a lovely new home with a fantastic family.
“No one came forward, and “Wicket” was adopted into a new home last week,” the rescue shared on Facebook.
Now, he gets to embrace his life as a devoted companion, far removed from dilapidated rooftops and uncertain tomorrows. His days are now filled with thrilling escapades and affection, and that’s everything he could ever desire!
