Rocky isn’t especially enthusiastic about food or snacks. He’s quite a selective eater and lacks motivation related to food.
When he doesn’t feel famished but is still given a treat, Rocky conceals it. However, he isn’t fond of the typical hiding areas. His hideaway is rather unusual and peculiar.
Out of all the potential hiding spots in the house and all the soil in the yard, Rocky selected the most transparent place to conceal his bones, despite it not being effective at hiding them.

The Absolute Worst Spot For Concealing Treats, Ever
Rocky is a Dachshund puppy. If you’re familiar with dog breeds, you recognize how intense the prey drive can be for this particular breed. They were developed and employed for hunting, with their survival instincts being prominent.
Even though centuries have passed since Dachshunds were initially bred, that prey drive persists, and Rocky exemplifies the breed beautifully.
This Florida-based mini Dachshund was just a young pup when Michelle Vachs and her fiancé adopted him. They adored the concept of having a dog and instantly fell head over heels for Rocky, the most gentle Doxie pup.
“We researched various dog breeds and decided upon a miniature dachshund. We looked online for reputable breeders and discovered one in California. We were smitten with his picture immediately,” Michelle shared with Newsweek.
Michelle also mentions that life with Rocky is wonderful. He’s a typical puppy, loving to engage in dog games such as fetch, digging holes, and snuggling. Additionally, Rocky is somewhat of a velcro pup, unable to tolerate being apart from his humans.
However, Rocky is also the absolute worst at concealing treats as he stashes them in the most unexpected spot: the blanket beneath him!
“Rocky is quite particular about his food and only eats when he feels hungry. Initially, we had to adjust, but now that we understand his preferences and the timing of his hunger, it’s no longer an issue. He wanted to save it (bone) for later and keep it away from us so we wouldn’t take it,” Michelle concluded.
How do we know this? By viewing a TikTok video Michelle shared showcasing Rocky in his treat-hiding escapade.
Rocky believed stashing his bone for later was a clever plan, and that the best hiding location was under the blanket. Surely, no one would discover it, not even by scent, Rocky.
Sometimes, the most evident location becomes the last place one searches. If Rocky’s mom, Michelle, was looking for the bone, the blanket would likely have been her final choice.
Next time, Rocky, perhaps just place it on the bed. They’re bound to walk right by it without noticing.
Rocky enjoys bones, but I advise you to exercise caution when giving any type of bones to your dog. For instance, chicken bones should be avoided as they can splinter and cause harm to your dog as they swallow.
According to Advanced Care Animal Clinic, bones may be safe for dogs, but aren’t vital. They can offer some beneficial minerals to your dog and promote saliva production, yet the risks are considerably higher.
Damaged teeth, punctured gums, lacerations, constipation, and even choking are potential hazards. I’m confident that there are numerous healthier and safer options for treats.
It turns out that Rocky’s pickiness when it comes to food is advantageous, as he routinely hides his bony treats when he isn’t feeling hungry.
