Teacher Takes Action to Care for Loyal Dog that Visits School Daily

Written By Ash

One aspect that is prevalent among dogs who are missing or residing on the streets is that many will consistently and respectfully seek assistance from humans.

Indeed, nearly all dogs will exhibit reluctance to come too close to people. Rather, they tend to wait and wish for someone to notice them.

In this narrative, we will discuss a dog that spent his days in front of a school, anticipating someone to liberate him from his circumstances.

A Warm Welcome Every Day

As he was arriving at work, Caleb Schaffer, an educator at an elementary school in Houston, Texas, spotted a dog at the doorway and was puzzled about what he was doing there.

The dog appeared curious to see the man, wagging his tail incessantly. However, Schaffer was pressed for time and had to commence his lessons, thus leaving the dog there.

During an interview with The Dodo, he stated: He was resting right outside the main entrance, and his tail began thumping when he caught sight of me.

He spent considerable time contemplating aiding the unfortunate dog, so after his final class, he stepped outside to check if the dog was still there.

To his astonishment, the dog was nowhere in sight. It seemed that the local animal shelter personnel had attempted to capture him and frightened him away.

Yet, he was back at the school entrance the following morning, and the same situation unfolded once more.

This time, Schaffer discerned just how dreadful the dog’s skin condition was and how emaciated he appeared, prompting him to resolve to assist the dog the next time he arrived at school.

Third Time Is Lucky

The long-awaited third day had arrived, and the same scenario was unfolding again. Schaffer made a decision that he was not going to let the dog slip away this time, so he took the dog to his vehicle and back to his home, requesting his wife to keep him company until he returned from work.

Once school concluded, Schaffer thought about how he might aid the dog by contacting rescue organizations in Texas, but all were swamped with animals.

Thus, he opted for the next best alternative. He transported the dog to his local animal shelter where he would receive veterinary assistance and a bath.

Schaffer remarked: I believed that some essential veterinary care at the shelter was more beneficial than doing nothing. He was truly in distress.

The dog, now dubbed Clive, had his tale circulated on Facebook and it garnered the attention of Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption, who swiftly arranged for foster care for him.

Since this incident, Schaffer continues to enjoy discussing this story with his students and reminding them of the importance of assisting stray animals.

He stated: There are so many strays all around here. It has provided me with a chance to discuss spaying, neutering, heartworm prevention, and the realities of animal shelters.

Much time has elapsed since Clive entered foster care, and it remains uncertain if he has been adopted, but one fact is undeniable: he is a well-behaved and joyful dog deserving of all the affection in the world.
