Every dog possesses unique requirements regarding their home environment, as no two canines are alike. Some breeds favor calm, compact residences since they don’t require much room, whereas others opt for a large yard where they can unleash their full potential.
Conversely, dogs born with challenges necessitate special care and empathy from owners who ideally possess ample patience and dedication.
This narrative is about Emerson, the German Shepherd puppy who has been unable to walk since her birth, and she continues her search for her forever family…
Emerson Was Born A Little Different
Regrettably, Emerson does not resemble other dogs, as she was born with multiple disabilities: spina bifida and hip dysplasia, in addition to having malformed joints in her back legs.
Given the seriousness of her condition, she cannot walk or engage in ordinary activities, which led her family to surrender her to the Paws 4 the Cause animal shelter located in Lexington, Kentucky.
She’ll Need A Bigger Wheelchair
Upon her arrival at the P4TC facility, it was apparent from the outset that she was an extraordinary puppy. There was an undeniable spark in her eyes despite having faced disabilities her entire life.
Her previous owners were hesitant to abandon her even when others advised them to do so.
They simply wanted to ensure that Emerson received the appropriate care from those knowledgeable about her condition, as they, themselves, were unable to provide it. However, it was evident that she would need a wheelchair for her entire life.
“Emerson pulled at everyone’s heartstrings from the moment we saw her sweet angel face,” remarked the P4TC team on their official Facebook account.
They constructed a custom wheelchair for this adorable GSD to aid her mobility. The challenge, however, is that she has already outgrown two of her wheelchairs, as she is growing larger and stronger each day.
She’s Currently With Her Foster Family
The Paws 4 The Cause team from Lexington, Kentucky, ensured that Emerson received the most wonderful foster home possible! She’s currently enjoying herself with her new foster family, enhancing her social skills and basic etiquette.
Nonetheless, their primary aim is to locate a family that will be perfect for this charming German Shepherd girl, which is undeniably a challenging task.
Searching For A Forever Home
The foster family captured an adorable image of Emerson in her wheelchair beside a Christmas tree at their residence. The P4TC team communicated that she is still in search of her everlasting family that will embrace her for her true self.
“Emerson’s Christmas wish is that there is a unique family out there ready to make her part of their lives, loving her in every possible way. We believe there is a place in this world for her, and someone or a family to share their hearts with her.”
We hope for her to finally find comfort in a new, caring dwelling with individuals who will value this beautiful girl’s companionship. Indeed, she may not be like other dogs, but she has endless smiles and oceans of affection to provide!
