Envision having to exist on the streets without protection from the elements or anyone to call your own.
That’s essentially what existence has been like for little MarMar – a mature dog who spent months hoping for his blessing. He wandered the streets of California, avoiding humans and doing his utmost to survive.
Hurt, distressed, and lacking any positive interactions with people, little MarMar urgently required assistance, yet he had no idea how to obtain it – until Eldad appeared to save the day!
He Was Doing His Utmost To Conceal Himself From People
Eldad Hagar is a veteran rescuer and the founder of Hope For Paws, located in Los Angeles, California. When he received a message about MarMar from a compassionate individual named Phillip, he quickly sprang into action.
It turned out that MarMar was tucked away next to a local gas station, looking for a secure spot to rest.
Upon Eldad’s first encounter with him, the little canine’s paws were wounded and he lacked the strength to flee. He was merely sitting there, trembling in fear and hoping that Eldad meant him no harm.
It was abundantly clear that this small dog was experiencing the aftermath of past trauma as he quivered constantly, and he kept his gaze lowered as though he anticipated being struck.
What the little fellow was unaware of at that moment was that he would receive only gentle strokes on his tiny head and a companion for life!
Eldad Was The Companion He Required
Eldad took MarMar to the shelter, provided him with a soothing, warm bath, and ensured he felt as at ease as possible. Although he remained anxious, as this likely marked his first encounter with individuals in a significant while, he already felt considerably better.
The HFP team performed a veterinary examination to determine the origin of his wounds. It turned out that the little MarMar had minor burns on his forepaws, but his overall state was much better than expected.
As an older dog living on the streets, MarMar was in remarkable condition, which is why Eldad opted to promptly locate him a foster home.
Marmar Is A Completely New Boy Now
Initially, Katie McKittrick, one of the HFP volunteers, chose to welcome MarMar into her affectionate household.
She aimed to introduce him to her dog/cat companions, anticipating that he would begin to emerge from his shell with a little support from his furry pals – and indeed, she was correct!
MarMar embraced his new companions instantly, and he began to behave like a brand-new dog. Living with other dogs and a cat genuinely helped him reveal his authentic personality, and Katie cherished witnessing him return to enjoying life as a dog!
A few days afterwards, the SAFE Rescue Team, based in Huntington Beach, California, volunteered to foster MarMar until he discovers a permanent home.
Now, this petite senior is the biggest lovebug who relishes every single day of his time with his foster family.

It’s only a matter of days until he secures his forever home, and if there’s one certainty, it’s that he will undoubtedly bring immense joy to some humans!
