It’s always difficult to witness a dog forsaken on a path or in a forest, but what’s even more challenging is acknowledging that a dog you just spotted endured animal mistreatment.
That’s precisely what occurred with Dennis, the Belgian Malinois who, at that time, was merely a one-year-old pup. When Henry, the animal rescuer, first discovered him stranded in the midst of a farm in Ensenada, Mexico, he was far too feeble to support himself. Thus, Henry resolved to assist him…
Denny Wasn’t Capable Of Walking When He Was Discovered
The reason Dennis was unable to walk or even support himself was due to being a victim of severe animal cruelty.
Initially, Henry presumed this unfortunate canine had been struck by a vehicle, but he later discovered that someone purposely hit him with an object, possibly a stone or a shovel.
“The veterinarian indicated he was likely intentionally struck with a blunt object, maybe a stone, a pipe, or a shovel… I wish the vet had said it was merely an accident so I wouldn’t have to face the horrifying truth.”
As Dennis could not fend for himself, Henry promptly took him to the nearby vet and provided him with care. The dog was extraordinarily anxious and insecure, and Henry opted to proceed with caution…
“We were among the initial individuals to demonstrate that kind of positive human interaction to him.”
The veterinarian suggested multiple weeks of confinement rest, after which Henry transported Dennis to San Diego, California.
The Animal Pad Cared For Him Well
Henry brought Dennis to the partnering organization known as The Animal Pad rescue. They continued to extend support for this dog until he eventually healed. Finally, he took his first steps after a prolonged period, although he remained quite traumatized.
With his condition having improved significantly since Henry first placed him in rehabilitation, Dennis received a foster mother responsible for his socialization and additional care.
Danielle And Dennis Were Destined To Be Together
Danielle Batakis, hailing from San Diego, California, was thrilled to welcome Dennis into her home. Despite lacking extensive experience with Belgian Malinois dogs, she formed a bond with Dennis almost instantly.
Originally meant to be a temporary foster, the circumstances evolved so rapidly that she couldn’t bear to part with him.
