Every dog deserves to experience a life brimming with unconditional affection and joy.
Sadly, daily reminders surface that numerous dogs globally, especially senior canines and those with impairments, are stripped of the chance to lead the gratifying lives they merit.
They are not only ignored when it comes to adoption, but frequently face the threat of being euthanized.
Fortunately, the dogs in today’s narrative were able to avert such fate, aided by compassionate humans who recognized her true essence.
A Little Bit Different
Taking to their Facebook page, Greenacres Rescue alerted their supporters about the heartrending rescue of a lovely female spaniel puppy who came into their care after being discovered abandoned at a parking lot.
“She has been born with six legs and various other anomalies,” the rescue expressed in the post.
With no knowledge of her past life, the rescue opted to take her to the veterinarian and initiate a diagnosis and a treatment strategy for the puppy with aspirations of providing her a typical life.
Named Arie, Mikey Lawlor of the Greenacres Rescue mentioned during an interview with the Western Telegraph that they chose this name because someone observed that she resembled a mermaid.
Upon receiving her test results, the team felt relieved to discover that she was a healthy and joyful puppy and that the deformities in her legs could be surgically removed.
“Ariel has two extra back legs and the beginnings of an additional vulva. Her pelvis hasn’t developed correctly due to the extra hip joint. The plan is to allow her to adjust after her experience and reassess her in one month with the goal of excising the additional limbs and evaluate the function of her remaining leg,” the shelter wrote.
New Chapter
After providing her some time to unwind and recuperate, numerous vet visits, scans, and specialist referrals occurred so that her humans could determine the most appropriate course of action.
And, several months later, Ariel was set for surgery.
The operation was triumphant.
“She’s recovering remarkably well, she’s bounced back and is a joyful little dog, and we’re optimistic she will go on to lead an incredible little life,” the surgeon who treated the pup, Aaron Lutchman, informed BBC.
Lawlor additionally shared that within a day, Ariel was standing on her paws, exploring her environment. She was welcomed by caring foster parents who ensured that her recovery process was as seamless as possible.
It came as no shock when, in a few months, Ariel achieved a complete revival, making her perfectly prepared to embark on a new chapter in her existence – locating a family.
Forever Home
Since gaining international fame, her shelter has been inundated with adoption inquiries. Nonetheless, one application stood out significantly.
A family who recently lost their cherished dog was in search of a furry companion to help fill the void in their hearts, and Ariel was the perfect fit!
“Ariel is already cherished by many and has undergone quite the transformation. Raised by a remarkable lady named June, who has performed wonders in her care for her, Ariel is a stunning, lively, and gentle spirit who is already bringing immense happiness into our lives,” Emma-Mary Webster expressed in a Facebook post.
Ariel’s tale is a narrative that aids in restoring faith in humanity.
A multitude of individuals united to assist this lovely girl not only in overcoming her disability but also in providing her with a life deserving of living.
“We extend our genuine appreciation to everyone who participated in transforming this once-forgotten pup into a treasured pet,” the Greenacres Rescue concluded.
