Encountering Avery, a charming split-toned Pittie, one may presume that you’re with a pup raised in a joyful setting filled with love and care.
Sadly, this assumption couldn’t be more incorrect.
This narrative revolves around an incredibly resilient and steadfast pup who clings to the belief of discovering her ideal home.
Meet Avery
Avery is a three-year-old Pit Bull who endured her first year filled with maltreatment and indifference. After her eventual rescue from such a harmful atmosphere, she devoted two years in the shelter.
The team currently caring for her, the personnel at the Marion County Humane Society in Knoxville, Iowa, are striving to make her stay as pleasant as conceivable, and they are thrilled to witness Avery’s appreciation for their kindness.
Avery was surrendered to the Iowa shelter by a distant relative of her previous household after observing “numerous marks on her resembling beatings with a stick.”
The details of her previous life were never revealed, but ultimately, it was inconsequential. What truly mattered was that she was safe from harm.
Initially, she seemed a bit bewildered upon her arrival at the shelter as she had never experienced affection and care. However, according to the Marion County Humane Society staff, it didn’t take long for her to “learn how to be cherished.”
Life At The Shelter
Despite adapting to the shelter environment, she faced additional challenges.
Following a medical evaluation, the veterinarians discovered a minor heart murmur that required medication and ongoing monitoring. Although some lifestyle adjustments will be necessary as she matures, everyone believes that they won’t hinder her quality of life.
She also experiences allergy issues affecting her paws and skin that entail extra medication, but the staff suspects that her allergies may lessen once she finds a proper home.
Regrettably, Avery faced a very distressing episode at the shelter when she was assaulted by another Pit Bull while being given a treat.
“She was brutally attacked by one while at the shelter. Completely out of nowhere. Thankfully, we managed to pour water on them to separate them, but Avery sustained serious injuries and required urgent care from an emergency veterinarian,” the humane society stated in a Facebook post.
Looking For A Home
While she enjoys her temporary living situation, there’s no doubt that she would be ecstatic in a home of her own. Despite having been taken in by a human once, she was returned the very same day.
Nonetheless, this setback didn’t dampen her enthusiasm.
She remains optimistic that she will encounter the ideal family who will welcome her and offer her the life she deserves.
Avery is a sociable girl who enjoys human company and the friendship of other dogs, but she is not particularly fond of felines. Avery loves engaging in tug of war, gnawing on ice cubes, and indulging in tasty snacks. It’s evident that she will enhance any household with her presence.
