The team endeavored to approach the charming dog, but as they drew nearer, the puppy became anxious and quickly fled.
However, before making his escape, the humans observed something tragic – the puppy’s muzzle had been secured with a zip tie.

Fortunately, the police responded swiftly, with an officer named Stephanie Northcutt arriving promptly at the location.
Given that she recognized the puppy’s distrust towards humans, likely due to previous trauma indicated by the zip tie, she opted for a different strategy.
Northcutt chose to kneel to the pup’s height and speak to him softly, assuring him that there was nothing to fear.
This approach proved effective in building trust with fearful dogs, allowing the puppy to approach Officer Northcutt within arm’s reach, enabling her to gently pet him.
The committed officer was ultimately able to cut the zip tie, liberating the puppy at last.

Heuristically named Zeus, this pup finally found himself in the presence of people who cared for him.
After spending quality time together, Zeus was adopted by Officer Northcutt, becoming a beloved member of her family.
The pup, who previously could not open his mouth, can now grin from ear to ear!
This isn’t the initial instance where this remarkable Officer has embraced a pup in distress.
“Zeus represents the second dog that Officer Northcutt has rescued from a dire condition while on duty. She playfully remarked that [police dispatchers] should refrain from assigning her animal calls, as she may soon lack space at home!” the police department shared.
