Recently, I have been contemplating just how challenging it truly is to be an animal rescuer.
More often than not, you will find yourself devastated when confronted with the sheer brutality inflicted upon the animals you save.
Occasionally, they may exhibit minor wounds alongside indications of hunger and thirst, while at other times, they are in excruciating pain and simply pleading for assistance.
In this narrative, we will discuss a dog who possessed a round face due to an excessively tight chain around his neck.
A Heart-Wrenching Scene
While a volunteer affiliated with R.A.D. Rescue was driving along one of the roads in California, she spotted a dog in the vicinity.
She halted her vehicle, approached to investigate, and observed that he had a noticeably round face for some reason.
Upon further examination, the cause became evident. The volunteer shared on a TikTok post: His head was severely swollen because of a tight chain around his neck.
Witnessing such a level of animal cruelty inflicted upon an innocent dog is genuinely heart-wrenching as he had done nothing to warrant it.
Recognizing that he required urgent assistance, the volunteer enticed him into her vehicle with some chicken.
A Pathway to Healing
The dog, now affectionately referred to as Chunk the Hunk, was safe with her, and they were en route to the nearest veterinary clinic in California for a thorough examination.
He appeared relatively unbothered, seemingly enjoying the journey despite likely experiencing significant discomfort.
Fortunately, the veterinarian confirmed that his swollen head was very manageable and that he would recuperate swiftly with appropriate care.
It’s remarkable to observe just how much Chunk managed to recover in such a brief period.
Once he began to improve significantly, his rescuer felt it was essential to assist him in discovering how to relish life, having spent the majority of his existence confined.
Chunk was absorbing so many new experiences, and his vibrant personality started to emerge substantially. It was now time to assist him in finding a loving family.
While the search proved challenging, the team at R.A.D. Rescue was resolute in their mission to find him the right match.
He remained patient and refused to let anything dampen his spirits. Within just a few months, Chunk had found his forever family and is now living his best life, all thanks to his wonderful rescuer.
