Life has its share of injustices. Observing a dog being scheduled for euthanasia because she is unable to secure a new home is among the most heartbreaking.
Most often, it’s not even their doing. All of them are affectionate and incredibly gentle if people offer them a chance.
This narrative will focus on a pregnant pittie who came perilously close to being euthanized but was rescued just in the nick of time.
A Very Pregnant Pittie
Ginger’s journey was far from smooth. During her time at a shelter in California, she was marked for euthanasia, despite her obvious pregnancy.
This was a profoundly cruel and unwarranted action, and her new owner, Susan, simply couldn’t bear to witness it happening, so she promptly decided to adopt her.
It was her sole opportunity, and so she didn’t falter for a moment in providing Ginger and her puppies the second chance they so desperately needed.
Susan kept a close eye on her almost all the time, observing as her belly expanded with time.
She ensured to arrange everything needed for the incoming puppies, and all that was left to do was wait.
On one pivotal Saturday, Susan briefly left to pick up some groceries at her neighborhood store in California, and upon her return home, she was delightfully surprised.
She shared with The Dodo: So, we came back and went in to check on her, opened the door and there was this wet little puppy.
A Sweet New Family
Ginger had delivered five of her puppies right there on the floor. Initially, Susan thought that might be all, but she noticed Ginger was still tense and there were more puppies to come.
There were simply too many of them, and Susan ensured both the puppies and their mother were comfortable.
It was immediately evident how they took after Ginger’s cheerful and playful nature.
Susan remarked: So, all the puppies found their forever homes, and I had promised my husband all along that I would also find a home for Ginger.
When the time arrived for her to locate a home for Ginger, she found herself uncertain about how to proceed. She had formed such a strong bond with Ginger that she could not bear to part with her.
She also observed how amiable Ginger was around other fostered animals, and they all enjoyed Ginger’s company.
Susan mentioned: She’s assisting other animals, calming them down, and she’s giving back in her own unique manner.
Ultimately, no matter what, she felt deep down that Ginger was meant to be with her and she was never going to let her go. It’s truly heartwarming to witness such a connection between a dog and a human.
