Dogs… remarkably faithful creatures.
They did nothing to earn a life on a chain. No creature should endure such inhumanity.
Regrettably, there are still regions in this world where chaining a dog is deemed acceptable and regarded as typical.
However, there is nothing typical about this kind of treatment.
How would you feel if someone tethered you, allowing just a few feet to move? How would it feel when freedom beckons yet remains out of reach due to the shortness of your chain?
How would you react if your entire existence revolved around a chain and a battered doghouse?
I understand how a gentle little Poodle felt. I know the unfortunate dog was heartbroken.
Nevertheless, I also know he never gave up on humanity. He never lost faith that someday, his rescuers would arrive.
The awaited day finally came, and the once neglected Poodle began to feel he was being regarded as a living creature.
Farewell Old Ball And Chain
One would expect a dog who has been chained for years to react out of fear, perhaps even hostility. He wasn’t accustomed to receiving kindness. He had never been approached by humans before!
You can see the conditions this unfortunate Poodle endured: an empty, filthy bowl designated for food that had not been filled for who knows how long, a short chain, and some debris that seemed to serve as a place to hide.
This Poodle was a living disaster existing in a disaster. It was heartbreaking!
If the rescuers had not arrived, who knows what fate awaited the poor pup.
Surprisingly, the pup welcomed them with a broad grin, as if he sensed his life was about to transform.
The rescuers even conversed with the man who was keeping the dog chained, and he consented to let them take him. He seemed indifferent to what would happen to the dog.
Fortunately, all positive outcomes were in store for the Poodle boy.
The individuals who rescued him from the dreadful life on the chain promptly began caring for the pup. They provided him with a nice, thorough wash, and ensured he was examined by their veterinarian.
Despite his harsh living circumstances, the dog was genuinely well and eager for any new living opportunity.
Anything would be preferable to life on the chain.
This Poodle boy was lucky enough to have a fresh start. Some dogs are not granted such an opportunity.
If you ever observe a dog chained in someone’s yard, please ensure you reach out to the authorities. They will conduct an investigation and look into why the dog is being treated as such. That’s the minimal you can do.
This may sound severe, but we dog enthusiasts hope that individuals who chain dogs experience the same suffering they impose on their dogs. That’s the least we can wish for.
