Dogs continuously astonish us, yet this Chi mother surpasses everything we could’ve envisioned!
Upon their initial encounter with Laugh Out Loud, her rescuers anticipated her to give birth to a small brood of puppies, however, no one could predict the actual number.
Prior to entering a labor that spanned 12 hours while residing in her foster home in Olathe, Kansas, her caregivers estimated she would deliver no more than four to five puppies, as Chihuahuas typically don’t have large litters.
However, when she welcomed her final pup, everyone was in disbelief, realizing she might just achieve a record-breaking status – having delivered a total of 11 tiny offspring!
Welcoming The Puppies On National Puppy Day
Laugh Out Loud (LOL), the expectant Chihuahua, was rescued from a hoarding predicament in Kansas City. Her former owners relinquished her, along with many other dogs, to the rescue.
From that instant onward, Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption, based in Mission, Kansas, became LOL’s secondary home, but as she was admitted “fully pregnant,” they ensured a foster home was secured for her to deliver comfortably.
What the shelter personnel and her foster mother, Josie, couldn’t foresee at the time was that LOL was on the verge of delivering a historically significant litter of Chi puppies!
Additionally, to make things even more remarkable – she gave birth to her pups on National Puppy Day, adding a unique significance to this occasion!
Even after the first five puppies emerged, her stomach remained large, and it was readily apparent that more puppies were still on their way.
Initially, her foster mom assumed the overall number of puppies was 10, but upon recounting, she discovered that LOL had given birth to 8 males and 3 females – totaling 11 puppies.
“Foster mom Josie checked the puppies to determine their genders. When she ended up with 8 males and 3 females, she realized something didn’t tally!! She quickly recounted multiple times and confirmed she was indeed right— “LOL” had birthed 11 puppies,” the UPRA team stated.
Danielle Reno, the president of the rescue, was thrilled to verify that all of the puppies were born healthy, and that the mother was recovering well after a lengthy labor period.
Although this isn’t the most extensive dog litter globally, it stands as the largest Chihuahua litter on record.
Heading To Wonderful Forever Homes
The wonderful news is that LOL and all her puppies quickly found their forever homes! After the puppies reached the 10-week mark, they were safely transitioned to their new families.
LOL, too, has located the perfect home she always deserved!
Having been so nurturing and protective over her offspring, this lovely mama could finally unwind in her new abode and embark on a beautiful journey with her new family.
