Regrettably, far too many dogs suffer mistreatment from the very individuals who pledged to care for them and love them forever.
Lotte was a five-month-old puppy whose spirit was enveloped in sorrow. Rather than enjoying a joyous existence filled with tail wags and happiness, the young canine faced harm and neglect.
Despite being cruelly treated by her heartless caretakers, Lotte maintained faith in human compassion and began seeking assistance.
The young pup, who scarcely had any energy remaining in her malnourished frame, dragged her weary paws and nestled on a woman’s porch in Texas.
A Kind Human Aids Lotte
Upon seeing the puppy, later named Lotte, in her dire condition, the compassionate woman felt heartbroken. Besides being underfed, the furry baby suffered from an extreme case of mange.
The kind-hearted woman attempted to feed Lotte, but she declined to eat.
Worried about her health, the caring woman brought the puppy to Austin Pets Alive, a rescue shelter.
As the woman arrived at the shelter at 6 a.m., she encountered Rene, one of the volunteers there, and requested him to take the puppy in.
Rene was profoundly saddened by the puppy’s situation, which was clear evidence of the negligence she had faced.
“Emaciated. Infested with mange. And scars around her mouth that hauntingly resemble having been taped shut or possibly muzzled for an extended period,” the Austin shelter expressed in a Facebook post.
Although Austin Pets Alive was not an intake center, the woman insisted that Rene accept Lotte into their care.
The heartbroken volunteer extended his hand towards Lotte, wishing to reassure her that she was no longer alone.
Lotte trusted him, appearing to be overwhelmed with thankfulness.
The Pup Expresses Gratitude
The kind man placed Lotte in a kennel and tended to her. He needed to consult with the shelter staff to determine how they could assist Lotte.
When the staff first encountered the forsaken puppy, their hearts ached. They were unaware of her previous history, but unfortunately, her condition spoke volumes.
“Understanding the complete context of her history is challenging, but we suspect—based on the time it takes for mange to deteriorate, malnourishment to manifest, and her unwillingness to eat—that she encountered neglect or abuse,” stated Luis Sanchez, the director of public relations and communications at Austin Pets Alive, to Newsweek.
The staff theorizes that Lotte ended up on a stranger’s porch after fleeing from her abusive caregivers.
The veterinary staff provided immediate medical care for the furry baby. They commenced treatment for her skin condition and showered her with attention.
Lotte’s caretakers strived to uplift her spirits and help her forget her sorrowful past.
Despite everything Lotte suffered at the hands of cruel individuals, she endeared herself to the staff with her lovely demeanor.
She gazed at them with affectionate eyes, feeling grateful to them for extending their kindness.
The little dog began to recover, yet she still required some time for complete healing.
Once the puppy’s caretakers nurse Lotte back to wellness, she will start seeking a loving foster home or a forever family.
