No matter the type, we all adore puppies! These adorable little bundles of joy bring us immense cuteness and endless amusement. Sadly, many don’t have the fortune of securing a lasting home on their initial attempt.
Abe and Addie, two canine siblings, were rescued from the streets and taken to permanent residences. While Addie was fortunate enough to discover her ideal family, her brother, Abe, was returned to the shelter.
Feeling alone and forlorn, Abe possessed a pair of the most sorrowful eyes, pondering: When will it be my opportunity to find a loving family?
And then, it occurred!
The Perfect Pairing
John Handem Piette, who was employed as the senior video editor at The Dodo, first noticed Abe when he was brought back from his initial home. John’s coworker, Jordan, was Abe’s foster and he brought him into the workplace one day.
“After Abe was returned, that’s when I truly noticed him. There was something captivating about his gaze,” states John.
He had the most treasured, sorrowful eyes imaginable. Despite his delightful demeanor with everyone at the office, Abe’s eyes conveyed a contrasting tale. It was clear he was yearning for a nurturing home.
Eventually, Abe found a new residence. Jordan and The Dodo team were thrilled that this boy had a second chance at life. Unfortunately, the second placement was also a disappointment.
Upon seeing Jordan’s social media post about Abe being returned from his second placement, John resolved to get involved. He wanted to understand why this charming dog was being returned repeatedly. Thus, he decided to foster him.
“Whatever challenges he faced, I was prepared to tackle them alongside him,” he remarked.
John and his girlfriend welcomed Abe into their Brooklyn, New York apartment and bestowed upon him an adorable new name – Bean! Soon after, Bean’s anxiety surfaced. For unexplained reasons, he exhibited destructive behavior, causing havoc wherever he roamed.
However, John and Christina were understanding. They recognized that there were underlying issues connected to Bean’s destructiveness, and they opted to proceed with caution.
Weeks into his new existence, Bean began to emerge from his shell. He adjusted to his new apartment and welcomed his new humans with open paws. Then, Covid struck. The trio had to vacate the area and relocate to John’s parents’ residence in New Hampshire.
The couple was uncertain of how Bean would respond to this alteration, but in just a handful of weeks – the extraordinary took place! Bean flourished into a transformed dog in a roomy yard and alongside his two new feline friends – Tigger and Simba.
Although Simba required some time to adjust to Bean’s playful demeanor, Tigger and Bean quickly formed a close friendship.
He truly cherished everything about his new, transitional abode. He relished frolicking in the snow and swimming in the pool with his dad during summer. His authentic personality completely emerged, elevating Bean to the spotlight!
Experiencing the Best Life
Nowadays, Bean and his family are living their best lives back in Brooklyn. The Covid era is behind him, but he still occasionally visits his grandparents and feline companions.
In the meantime, Bean ensures that every single day is a fresh adventure! He is brimming with personality and carries the most joyful spirit. Given what he has endured in the past, Bean has genuinely metamorphosed into an exceptional companion.
“Bean has already taught us so much. That even when circumstances are challenging and things don’t pan out on the first try, or the second try, eventually things will fall into place. And I’m incredibly glad we found each other,” remarks John.
Every day, he creates unforgettable memories with his wonderful humans. They stroll together, embark on journeys together, engage with new faces, and have a splendid time whenever they venture out.
John and Christina are exceedingly thankful to have their furry companion by their side. This remarkable pooch has demonstrated to them that even during what might be termed the worst of times, something positive can emerge from it. And for them, that positivity is Bean!
