Rescue Pittie Finds Comfort in His Cardboard Box After a Sweet Rescue

Written By Ash

Even when you rescue a dog from the streets, it can sometimes be quite challenging to alter their previous behaviors. That’s precisely what transpired with Captain, the Pittie mix pup who was saved from the streets of Detroit, Michigan.

Upon his arrival at Detroit Dog Rescue, he received abundant care, affection, and a lovely, cozy bed – yet all Captain desired was his old cardboard box for sleeping!

A Cardboard Box Is The Most Comfy Bed For Captain

Captain’s tale doesn’t commence in a particularly glamorous manner. He was discovered as an abandoned dog searching for shelter in a cozy space, but he simply could not locate one! Captain had been roaming the streets of Detroit for far too long – he was extremely malnourished and required veterinary assistance.

“We can’t erase the experiences of being struck, kicked, shot, burned, or discarded from a window. We can’t take away the moments when the only warm bed they possessed… was a thrown-away cardboard box,” noted Christina Rinaldi, the director of DDR, reflecting on Captain.

“We adore you and your cardboard boxes, Captain.”

Initially, when he arrived at the DDR facility, Captain was timid and lacked many dog manners. Nevertheless, everything was set to transform soon…

He Had A Really Hard Life

Now a well-adjusted and sociable pup, Captain indeed had a tough existence, according to Rinaldi.

He was essentially a dog that was unwanted by anyone, which is the reason he was discarded like rubbish. His cardboard box was all that he possessed in this world, making him deeply attached to it.

“Captain came to us after being homeless on the street. He still prefers to rest in a cardboard box, just as he did when he was thrown away like trash. We’ve continuously shown him affection and provided him with the finest of everything…”

Feeling The Gentle Touch Of A Hooman Again

His previous days of aimlessly wandering are finally behind him! This charming Pittie mix has at last discovered a place where he can simply unwind and be himself, without the dread of being hurt, chased away, or left hungry!

He’s finally in the safe hands of those who are ready to offer him all he requires.

Captain is current on his vaccinations, receives regular check-ups, and is neutered! In addition, Captain has finally mastered several basic obedience commands! He truly is a splendid boy, and an excellent listener who enjoys earning his treats.

He demonstrates a slight shyness around men, prompting the DDR team to prefer a home with a female guardian for Captain. He interacts well with other canines, and once he settles into a new environment, we are confident he will become the sweetest family Pittie ever!

We wish you all the best, Captain!
