Unethical breeding techniques not only exhibit a total absence of empathy, but also often endanger dogs’ lives.
Participating in such activities compromises the welfare of the animals concerned, exposing them to environments that can result in significant injury.
Furthermore, as an added consequence, these unfortunate dogs frequently find themselves forsaken on the streets when they stop being profitable.
This was precisely the case with Solari, a pregnant mother dog whose breeders callously discarded her on the streets when they were unable to sell her puppies.
They showed no concern for her fate or whether she and her unborn pups would freeze to death…
Saved By The Bell
Upon noticing a pregnant mother dog wandering their neighborhood, Lisa and Grant, a couple from Victorville, California, felt compelled to bring her in.
They recognized that their neighbors were backyard breeders and immediately understood how she ended up in their vicinity, aware that they had no intention of caring for her any longer.
Evidently, after failing to sell her puppies, they resolved to discard her by locking up the back fence and leaving her to roam the streets.
Lisa shared with We Love Animals, “Our neighbors are backyard breeders, and this is a dog they used to breed, but I suppose the last time they attempted to sell the puppies, no one wanted them, so they decided to just kick her out by boarding up the back fence and allow her to roam the neighborhood.”
They were completely indifferent to her situation.
“She wanders the area, getting attacked by other dogs, and she has no home,” Lisa remarked.
After she continued to appear on their doorstep nearly every day for weeks, Lisa and Grant chose to provide a cozy and secure environment for the pregnant mother dog.
A few days later, Solari welcomed 8 precious puppies into the world.
Mama And Her Babies
The couple had to determine how to manage both the puppies and their mother. They reached out to local shelters, but every one of them was at capacity, so they opted to care for the furry family and seek loving homes for them all.
Solari proved to be an excellent mother, but she was emaciated, not only for sustenance but also for affection and tenderness… things she had never known in her life.
“You could see she craved the attention, but she had such difficulty asking for it from her previous ‘owners’. However, since we welcomed her, she has completely transformed,” Grant expressed.
For the first time, she experienced playing with a toy and transformed into a genuine dog who enjoys playing, mastering commands, and relishing pets. Solari is indeed an intelligent dog.
