On an excessively hot and humid afternoon, a compassionate stranger encountered a heartbreaking scene. While strolling past a local bus depot, he spotted something out of the ordinary at a nearby refuse site.

As he moved closer to the brimming dumpsters, he discovered two very young puppies sprawled on a heap of rubbish on the ground.

Though they seemed to be dozing at first glance, he soon realized they were in dire condition, essentially fighting for their lives.

The benevolent individual promptly reached out to the local rescue group for assistance.

The two pups were just under a month old, with no indication of a mother present. It seemed they had been discarded by someone indifferent to their plight.

Upon receiving an alert about the puppies, rescuers Lina Patino and Jennifer Ponsford hurried to the bus station.

They quickly gathered the pups and drove directly to the rescue’s shelter.

The pups were in perilous condition – infested with ticks, plagued by parasites, undersized, and fighting to survive.

“They were underfed … we provided them food, water, antiparasitic treatment and applied tick deterrent. During the first 24 hours, their mood was so low and they were so inactive that I feared they wouldn’t pull through … that they would perish,” Patino shared with The Dodo.

The puppies were given the names Enrique and Beto, with hopes and prayers for their recovery.

The initial days were crucial, but to everyone’s astonishment, by the third day, the puppies’ health began to improve.

“On the third day, they were bursting with energy. We gave them medicated baths to address their skin issues, and they have been thriving ever since,” Patino added.

As the weeks flew by, the puppies were flourishing like never before.

Receiving diligent medical care and abundant love, they got exactly what they required to recover and thrive.

Now, they are two months old, free of parasites and ticks. Consequently, they can finally absorb all the essential nutrients necessary for their healthy growth.

Enrique and Beto still have a bit of growing to do before they are ready for adoption, but I’m optimistic they’ll catch up promptly and discover their forever homes.

If you are curious about how the puppies are enjoying their stay at the shelter, I’m pleased to say they are thoroughly relishing their new lives.

They can be found cuddling each other, playing with their toys or one another, or soaking in all the affection they receive from their rescuers.

Shortly, they will be ready for their vaccinations, bringing them closer to securing their forever homes through adoption.

Had it not been for that kind-hearted individual who spotted them that day, these pups might not have endured. He will eternally be their guardian angel.
