When Hope For Paws, a charitable animal rescue organization located in Los Angeles, got wind of a pup stranded on a bridge over a bustling highway, they abandoned their current tasks and hurried to the location.
The tip came from L.A. on Cloud 9 – a philanthropic group in Los Angeles focused on aiding both the homeless and animals, as they spotted this unfortunate dog in urgent need of assistance.
While the team navigated the area in search of the dog, they observed a tattered object lying on the pavement.
Realizing quickly that it was indeed what they were searching for, they acted promptly.
Rescue Operation
They parked the vehicle and carefully exited. One of the team members, Loreta Frankonyte, retrieved a hamburger and decided to approach the pup slowly, presenting him with the delectable burger in hopes of winning his trust.
Yet, as she drew near, the dog became frightened and darted to a corner.
Recognizing that the pup was easily alarmed, and given that they were on one of the busiest and loudest freeways in Los Angeles, the rescuers made the decision to contain the dog, ensuring he wouldn’t escape onto the roadway.
With him secured, Loreta was able to enter the enclosure with a leash, attempting once more to capture the pup. Unfortunately, he remained terrified and attempted to flee again – this time, seeking refuge beneath a cart.
Fortunately, Loreta succeeded in placing the leash around his neck and ushering him to safety.
The unfortunate pup was profoundly neglected, as his entire coat was heavily matted, obstructing his vision and making it difficult for him to see.
The rescue team gently placed him in their vehicle and transported him to the shelter.
At The Shelter
Upon his arrival at the shelter, the staff immediately began shaving off his thick and filthy fur.
Sadly, the pup, now named Shrimp, wasn’t accustomed to a nurturing and loving atmosphere, so he continued to feel tense.
Worried about causing him harm, the staff opted to mildly sedate him.
Following a thorough examination, the veterinarians discovered that Shrimp had a fistula connecting his oral and nasal passages.
After his grooming and assessment, it was finally time for a bath!
New Beginnings
Shrimp is currently flourishing in his new environment filled with affection and care. And, in merely a few weeks, he evolved into the healthiest and most exuberant pup imaginable!
Now all that remains is for him to discover a loving forever home that will fill his life with joy, affection, and snuggles.
And, delicious meals since mealtime has become his favorite time of day!
