Animal rescues are establishments designed to offer sanctuary to creatures in distress and supply them with nourishment, love, and shelter until they can secure a permanent dwelling.
While numerous shelters are remarkable environments brimming with affection, their limits often reach capacity, causing some animals to feel neglected as the personnel cannot extend the care they truly require.
This highlights the necessity of providing these creatures with a foster or permanent dwelling at the earliest, immersing them in a setting that reaffirms their deservingness of affection.
Regrettably, certain animals may remain in the shelter longer than anticipated, which can lead to feelings of heartbreak and sadness.
Kubo The Pup
A puppy named Kubo, along with his four siblings, was rescued and taken to the Franklin County Humane Society Planned Pethood & Adoption Center (FCHSPPAC), located in Rocky Mount, Virginia, in March 2018. This lively group was more than eager to start a new chapter in their lives.
Within just two weeks at the shelter, and at the tender age of seven weeks, the charming siblings found a permanent family.
However, after 376 days, a familiar figure would reenter the shelter. Kubo was regrettably returned.
“The initial adopter took him as a puppy without providing proper direction or stability. He returned as an adult animal lacking training,” Anita, the director of FCHSPPAC, shared with Newsweek.
Second Chance
He remained at the shelter for the following 76 days after being adopted once more in May 2021.
Eventually, Kubo’s new guardian encountered unforeseen challenges related to job stability and housing, compelling him to relinquish Kubo yet again.
Sadly, up to this moment, Kubo has not been able to secure a new family, spending over 900 days at the Virginia-based shelter.
“Of his 2,105 days alive he has spent 1,088 days in a home and 902 days in a shelter. In 65 days he will have resided in a shelter for half of his existence,” she noted.
Anita and the shelter staff are doing their utmost to locate this lovable five-year-old Whippet mix the affectionate home he rightfully deserves.
“Kubo seeks someone who can ensure his safety while he adapts to the outside environment. He needs a person willing to allow him to relax and learn about things he hasn’t encountered before,” she emphasized.
Third Opportunity
The perfect family for this charming pup would involve caretakers who enjoy spending time outdoors and dedicating all their focus to him.
“As can be inferred from his duration at the shelter, he has struggled with homelessness throughout most of his existence; as a consequence, Kubo can be hesitant around new faces. When accompanied by familiar individuals, Kubo walks right by a stranger without any reaction. He simply prefers being introduced to newcomers without immediate physical contact, although he adapts swiftly,” Anita elaborated.
Kubo is fond of spending time with children, as he had shared many joyful moments with them during one of his previous adoptions.
He is also an exceptionally healthy pup, with no health issues, eagerly waiting to become part of a family that will fill his days with love, happiness, and laughter.
