An extraordinary female Pittie, Kaya, gave birth to sixteen remarkable puppies! Upon her arrival at RainCoast Dog Rescue, her foster dad, Jesse, and his partner were completely unaware that she was even with pup!
Once an abandoned Pittie slated for euthanasia, she is now a lovely mother to a huge litter of puppies!
Kaya Was Rescued From Euthanasia And Moved To Her New Foster Home
Kaya was left at a local shelter after being found wandering the streets. After some time as a shelter dog, she was marked for euthanasia since no one sought to adopt her.
However, Jesse and his wife noticed her and chose to foster Kaya until she could find a permanent home.
“She was at the shelter, set to be euthanized. No one wanted her,” says Jesse.
When she initially stepped into her new environment, she was incredibly thin and undernourished. Jesse established her feeding routine and was determined to help Kaya regain her strength!
Jesse Was Oblivious To Her Pregnancy
Her new household had no clue that she was expecting! When her belly began to expand, Jesse simply thought he was feeding her too much!
“We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. No one had any clue that she was pregnant… She rapidly started gaining weight in her belly area, so I assumed I was overfeeding her.”
However, after a routine veterinary examination, they discovered Kaya was expecting!
“It was a massive surprise.”
She was anticipating a litter, and although her new foster parents were quite taken aback, they were also thrilled that Kaya would soon be a mom!
Surprisingly Large Litter And Many Adorable Puppies
The most astonishing occurrence took place when Kaya began to deliver her puppies! Her litter was extraordinary, as she welcomed 16 beautiful Pittie babies, an exceedingly large count!
“It was rather early in the morning, and I’m still thinking – seven or eight puppies, she can manage this! It’s just going to be a quick event, and we will be done in time for dinner.”
She required two full days to give birth to all her puppies, but she ultimately succeeded! Kaya, the newly minted Pittie mom, was drained, but delighted to finally be with her adorable little ones!
Jesse and his spouse opted to foster the entire crew until they reached nine weeks old! Kaya instructed them in basic etiquette and even how to dig! She played a major role in their training along with Jesse.
Eventually, nearly all the puppies found their forever homes, yet Kaya and her daughter, Sefina, were retained by the family.
Kaya And Sefina Became Permanent Members Of The Family
Jesse and his spouse decided to retain Kaya along with one of her puppies – Sefina. Although the plan was to foster Kaya until she was prepared to meet her new pawrents, they simply couldn’t part with her!
“After the pregnancy, I came to realize that we wished to adopt her. She’s just so loving! The cuddles, the kisses…”
Once an anxious shelter dog, Kaya is now relishing her perfect life alongside her daughter and her wonderful pawrents! We wish them a lifetime filled with joy and countless cherished moments!
