Traveling down a secluded Texas highway one summer afternoon, an ER nurse, pet enthusiast, and social media celebrity, Christina Mae, was oblivious to the fact that her life was about to transform completely.
Emerging from the tall grass was a white tuft. Intrigued, Mae decided to approach it. That was when she discovered that the white tuft was, in fact, a stray puppy.
Noticing the pup’s face was filled with confusion and concern, Mae halted her vehicle and opted to get closer. Instantly, she observed that the puppy had a distressing injury on his paw.
Without a moment’s delay, she picked up the puppy, placed him in her car, and sped off to her residence.
Safe And Sound
She named him Max, and Mae understood that upon their return home, she needed to provide him with a soothing and cleansing bath. Once he was thoroughly cleaned, she prepared him a warm, nourishing meal as it was evident that this lovely boy hadn’t had a bite to eat in some time.
As he roamed the house, Mae realized that the puppy was hesitant to put weight on his hind leg. She recognized this as a clear indication that a visit to the veterinarian was imperative.
Following a comprehensive medical evaluation, the vets informed her that Max was suffering from a fractured hind leg. They also advised that the optimal solution would be to amputate the leg as soon as feasible.
Despite already juggling her job and another dog at home, Mae simply could not permit that to occur. Even if she had no intention of adopting another pup, Max came home with her and has remained ever since.
Road To Recovery
After some thorough research, Mae discovered a veterinarian who believed it might be feasible to save Max’s leg through surgery.
Without any reservations, Mae transported Max to the vet’s clinic, three hours away, and arranged for his initial of three surgeries.
The journey to recovery was arduous, but with such an amazing human by his side and five months of vigorous medical attention, Max was finally a thriving boy!
Not only was he able to stand on all four of his paws, but he could also leap and sprint around to his heart’s content.
And, his family couldn’t have been prouder.
It astounds me how significant an influence we can have on our furry companions.
Mae not only paused her vehicle to bring this lovable boy into a cozy home but also assisted him in regaining his spirit. And, throughout all of this, she wore a smile on her face.
It was absolutely worth it! I know that whenever she observes Max playing around, she is reminded of the impact she made in his life.
