When a rescuer named Brenda received a call regarding a dog who lay on an old mattress in the forest all alone, she realized she needed to come to his aid.
As he appeared extremely anxious and frightened, Brenda engaged him with a gentle and playful voice, wishing that he would not flee.
It seemed that the dog, who was called Hondo, recognized that Brenda was merely trying to help, so he began to trail her and hopped into her truck.

Due to Hondo’s dire condition, Brenda wasted no time and took him to a shelter located in Oregon.
“He definitely appeared to be experiencing considerable pain. His skin was evidently in distress. He was entirely hairless,” remarked Brenda.
Once at the shelter, Hondo began to truly relax. As Brenda conversed with him more and assured him that he was receiving the care he required, Hondo appeared increasingly enthusiastic.
Having a severe case of mange, he got medical assistance right away.
Before long, his true character started to emerge, revealing to everyone what a cheerful and affectionate dog he genuinely was.
Foster Home
Hondo remained at the shelter for just over a month and, regrettably, he did not attract any interest from potential adopters.
Recognizing how much he deserved a nurturing home, the shelter reached out to the South Coast Humane Society (SCHS), in Oregon, seeking assistance.
Noticing what a good boy he was, SCHS successfully located him a foster family the very next day!
His foster mother, Sarah, along with her son, were thrilled to welcome Hondo into their caring home.
“I felt terrible when I saw Hondo and the state he was in because you don’t get to that point overnight. That’s years of neglect,” stated Sarah.
Sarah’s son, Seth, quickly bonded with Hondo.
Hondo not only received warm and soapy baths twice a week for his mange, but his days were also filled with playdates and snuggles.
Despite having spent so long on his own, he instantly connected with every human he encountered.
Forever Home
Sarah expressed that the ideal home for Hondo would be one with no other dogs or only very submissive ones.
Hondo only needs minimal physical activity, so he requires someone who enjoys spending time with him outdoors, getting him moving.
Fortunately, Hondo received precisely what he required.
Immediately after one incredibly caring family witnessed what a wonderful boy Hondo was, they recognized that he needed to become a permanent part of their family.
Hondo is now finally in a cozy and nurturing home, receiving all the affection and attention he deserves.
