Dogs are creatures that require affection from their favorite humans at every stage of their existence to truly flourish. This need is particularly crucial when the mother dog brings her new puppies into this world. During this time, human assistance is most essential for her.
Sadly, numerous individuals regard canines as mere playthings, neglecting the realities outlined above. This is precisely what the staff of One of a Kind Pet Rescue, based in Akron, Ohio, observed when they were notified about a mother dog whose family heartlessly deserted her.
Her only “offense” was giving birth to more puppies than her family had anticipated – 12, to be precise.
An Amazing Mom
When Tanya Jonda, the executive director of One of a Kind Pet Rescue, learned about the plight of this mother dog named Violet and her newborn pups, her heart was shattered.
“I was reached out to by a lady in Columbus who is a friend of my daughter,” Tanya recounted to The Dodo. “She took the mother and her puppies in after encountering a post on Facebook from someone who stated they were abandoned on their property.”
Although she realized the challenging task that lay ahead, Tanya resolved to care for Violet and her little ones. She simply could not turn her back on these unfortunate, vulnerable creatures.
Upon their arrival at the facility in Akron, Ohio, the staff instantly observed that the mother dog was severely malnourished, infested with fleas, and blind in one eye. However, her puppies were thriving, indicating that Violet was an exceptional mother.
“We named the puppies with names starting with ‘V.’ Despite having such a large litter, they get along remarkably well and often snuggle together when sleeping. This may stem from their abandonment and desire for warmth.” Tanya shared.
Fortunately, due to the kindness of those who chose to assist this canine family, a brighter future awaited them.
Brighter Days on the Horizon
As per the One of a Kind Pet Rescue Facebook update, “26 DhPP vaccinations, 26 deworming treatments, one heartworm assessment for the mother, 13 spay/neuter procedures, 13 flea/tick preventions, 13 heartworm preventions, 13 microchip placements, and one rabies vaccination for the mother” were necessary for this canine family to regain their health.
Thanks to their commitment and numerous contributions from compassionate individuals, the recovery was far more than successful. The puppies gradually blossomed into robust and joyful dogs, and the mother’s heart was filled with pride as she saw them thrive.
In no time, all the pups were prepared for adoption. As reported by The Dodo, six of them swiftly discovered their forever homes, while the mother and the remaining half of the litter had to exercise a bit more patience.
Tanya characterized Violet as “a delightful girl with a beautiful temperament” who “adores all people and other dogs.” Conversely, there’s no need to elaborate on the puppies because we all recognize that they are a promise of joy and happiness in any home they enter.
This is why we wholeheartedly believe that the entire canine family will soon experience their happiest conclusion, much to the delight of both themselves and those who assisted them during their most challenging times.
