One of these heartfelt tales originates from Ohio, where a pooch named Oakley serendipitously found his forever family. This good lad was on a quest for someone to care for him, and when he ultimately came across the ideal family, he uncovered another surprise!
Oakley’s Story
Oakley was discovered wandering the streets of Kentucky, from where he was rescued and brought to a shelter. After an extended search for the perfect home, the Adopt A Pit Rescue found this Aussie lad a family with Hollis and Jerry, a couple residing in Ohio.
“They spotted him on the streets in Kentucky, and I suppose he went through all the steps to find a family there. Then our rescue located him and took him to Ohio, where we adopted him,” shared Hollis with GeoBeats Animals.
The couple instantly fell for Oakley, as he was incredibly affectionate and relaxed from the start. In fact, Oakley was so well-mannered that the couple began to question if he truly was a stray.
Because of his enigmatic history, they were uncertain if he had a previous home. Oakley was knowledgeable about commands to which he responded wonderfully, and he seemingly appeared to be crate trained.
This good lad had numerous surprises waiting, leaving his new mom and dad amazed with each passing day. Jerry and Hollis felt tremendously thankful for having such a ‘naturally trained’ dog in their lives, particularly due to their hectic schedules as medical students.
The Most Adorable Boi
Jerry had never owned a dog before due to family allergies, but for Oakley, he would certainly do it all over again!
“I can manage a runny nose and itchy eyes any day of the week if it means I get to have someone like Oakley by my side all the time,” remarks Jerry.
This delightful boi brings so much joy to mom and dad each day. He doesn’t mind his size or the fact that he’s not a lap dog. He adores snuggling or being cradled in their arms, as long as it indicates being near them.
