And, they have the audacity to claim that dogs lack emotions!
Indeed, dogs are among the most sentimental beings on the planet. Just how many instances have you encountered of dogs weeping after being saved, or showing a gesture of affection?
These lovely beings are a gift from above and should never be overlooked.
Regrettably, many of these gentle souls find themselves abandoned on the streets, enduring suffering and feeling as if their entire existence is slipping away through their paws. More often than not, it resembles sand slipping through fingers. Only a few are fortunate enough to be saved and blessed with a caring family.
This Pittie was staring down the end of her life. All she could envision was a nurturing family that would come to rescue her.
Would the rescue ever appear? Would anyone extend a compassionate word and a supportive hand?
Then came Judy and TAO Animal Rescue from Fort Worth, Texas – the angel who rescued Mercy and transformed her life for the better.
Someone Finally Showed Compassion To Mercy, The Pittie
There, by the roadside, Mercy lay despondent and helpless. When Judy saw her, she was unprepared for what lay ahead. Approaching closer, she was taken aback.
The reason the dog did not come bounding towards her was due to a severely damaged back. Her hind legs seemed unresponsive, and her spine was horrifically aligned, as if she had been struck by a vehicle.
Judy had to act quickly. Recognizing that the dog was as gentle as could be, Judy lifted her and carried her to her car. She could see in Mercy’s eyes the gratitude for her rescue.
The sweet Pittie appeared to be expressing, I have been waiting for you all this time, Judy. Thank you.
Once inside the car, Mercy reached out and grasped Judy’s hand, refusing to let go. This precious girl craved support and was earnestly pleading for it from Judy.
For 20 minutes during their drive to the vet, Judy and Mercy held hands.
It wasn’t out of fear of the ‘V’ word. It was an expression of gratitude that only a truly loving dog can convey.
The vet confirmed Mercy had fractures, but surprisingly, they were not recent. She hadn’t been struck by a vehicle lately. Most likely, Mercy had sustained her injuries some time ago and was then left behind. Her bones fused in an unusual manner, causing her to walk unsteadily.
The vet’s only recommendation was a wheelchair.
However, Mercy was not on board with that idea. The very next day, she revealed a little miracle:
Mercy began walking significantly better!
She adamantly refused the wheelchair, pushing herself beyond limits to walk like a normal dog once more.
It was a miracle that no one anticipated.
The rejuvenated Mercy was now in search of her forever home. Although Judy couldn’t keep her, she managed to find a loving family through her network of friends.
Before parting ways, Judy gifted Mercy a special present: her pink stuffed bunny toy.
This was the most wonderful farewell gift ever. Mercy received her security blanket – a keepsake of Judy and a toy she would hold dear. Mercy gained a new companion!
Additionally, she acquired a family!
Mark and Sharon Williams embraced the role of Mercy’s new parents and couldn’t be more delighted with their new dog. From the moment she arrived, Mercy exhibited her affectionate nature. Everyone fell head over heels for this adorable girl!
Mercy was no longer just a stray from the Fort Worth area. She had become part of the family.
And guess what? Her stuffed bunny remains right by her side. Despite being a bit worn out after years of companionship, Mercy still cuddles with her bunny. She holds it in her mouth, leaps onto the couch, and finds comfort.
The bunny has become her pacifier.
Apart from nibbling on her beloved pink toy, Mercy enjoys spending her days outdoors, requesting her humans to toss a ball for her. She simply adores it!
Mercy never forgot her rescuer, Judy. She frequently visits her miracle Pittie.
Without Judy, Mark and Sharon wouldn’t have the joy of a dog like Mercy in their lives.
If it hadn’t been for Judy, Mercy would have met her end right there on that roadside.
And, without Mercy, we might never realize the immense gratitude, compassion, and happiness a rescue stray can embody.
