Every pup is entitled to experience a life filled with joy, affection, and contentment. Sadly, this isn’t always the reality.
Not only are numerous dogs compelled to survive on the streets, but they also lack essentials such as food, shelter, and appropriate medical attention. As a result, many of these furry friends face serious health issues that can be life-threatening.
Fortunately, there are many compassionate individuals who devote themselves to rescuing homeless dogs and providing the necessary care.
It’s Never Too Late
Sheridan is an animal enthusiast who loves to assist creatures in need. With her four dogs, a foster pet, and even a small hedgehog, one might think her home was crowded. Yet, upon receiving a note that a furry companion required aid, she promptly created room for one more.
Ava spent her days roaming the streets, scavenging for food to stay alive. However, when she was rescued by an extraordinary organization, her life transformed dramatically.
After receiving several medical assessments, the shelter team discovered she had some heart complications. They decided to conduct heart surgery promptly and place a stent, yet they were unable to fully restore her health. Regrettably, Ava’s time was limited.
In an effort to distract herself from the devastating reality, Sheridan chose to take Ava in. Nonetheless, things didn’t quite go as expected.
“I had to ponder that and the responsibility if I wanted to keep her long-term but as soon as she arrived home I was like ‘I don’t believe her medical condition matters’,” Sheridan shared with Geobeats.
After merely a few days in her new surroundings, Ava’s family became utterly smitten with her, making it impossible to part ways. And Ava is thoroughly enjoying it!
She ultimately discovered the joy of being part of a caring family that cherished spending time with her. Ava blossomed into the most energetic pup in the neighborhood, fulfilling every desire of her heart.
Little Furry Helper
Sheridan persisted in fostering pups and it’s accurate to say that Ava was all for it.
Every time she brought home new puppies, Ava would bounce around them, hosting the warmest welcome imaginable. If there was a little one feeling a bit anxious about their new environment, she would rush to comfort it and assure it that it was secure.
“She is so inviting and she allows them the time needed to get familiar with her. She excels at respecting boundaries and is exceptionally good at interpreting the behavior of other dogs. They often view her as their mom,” she remarked.
Having all these puppies around truly enhanced Ava’s spirits. Yet, Sheridan was frequently reminded that Ava had only six months left to live. Regardless, she steadfastly continued administering her heart medications each day.
As the months passed, Sheridan was astonished to observe that Ava appeared healthier than ever. And three years later, she is still with us!
“She is six and they didn’t anticipate her to reach anywhere near that age. I hope she can motivate individuals to recognize that numerous animals like her have been overlooked. They are all wonderful dogs yearning for loving homes,” Sheridan concluded.
Ava has been living her best life ever since.
She loves dashing around the beach with her dog siblings and being the most amazing nanny to all the foster pups that come her way.
