Who claims there are no Yodas in actual life? Well, get ready to be shown otherwise, as you’re about to encounter the most charming, most pawdorable, real-life baby Yoda!
The force was undeniably potent with Mork Skywalker, the Bulldog hybrid who resembles his Star Wars counterpart flawlessly.
This little “alien doggo” has captured headlines worldwide because of his strikingly adorable appearance. However, just like all rescue pups, Mork Skywalker had a challenging journey to a comfortable existence. Before he achieved fame, this little canine had a rather unremarkable life!
This is his tale!
Mork’s Origin Story
Mork was rescued by an organization known as Harbin SHS Animal Rescue, from San Diego, California, which prevents dogs from falling prey to the meat trade. At the time of his first sighting by HSHS, Mork was malnourished, lacked fur, and was suffering from many congenital complications.
Once he was safely brought to the U.S., Mork’s life began to improve! The rescue organization reached out to Nikki Carvey, the founder of Roadogs Rescue from Southern California, who was eager to welcome Mork into her care.
This kind-hearted rescuer has fostered numerous dogs, and Mork was slated to be one of them. However, upon first laying eyes on Mork, Nikki realized he would be a foster failure!
He was irresistibly adorable, well-behaved, and relaxed, quickly adapting to Nikki’s household. Nonetheless, Mork was far from fully healed, as his health left much to be desired compared to his endearing personality.
“We all adore Mork because he is so incredibly cute. Yet, he is a mess. He faces internal issues, potential hiatal hernia, possible heart complications, and difficulties with breathing and palate. A dog should never be bred for uniqueness or cuteness; health must always be the priority,” Nikki shared on Instagram.
The Journey to Recovery
Nikki utilized every resource possible to assist Mork in overcoming his gastrointestinal challenges. This little doggo also needed to maintain healthy weight ranges because even the smallest increase in weight could exacerbate his breathing problems.
Although brachycephalic issues are common in Mork’s breed, the root cause of his dire condition stems from poor breeding practices. Fortunately, after a comprehensive examination, Mork turned out not to have any heart issues, just a minor arrhythmia.
