When Dove was rescued from the streets as an abandoned dog, she was frightened.
This heavily pregnant future mother remained isolated in the corner of the kennel, entirely withdrawn from her surroundings.
The noisy shelter atmosphere, unfortunately, triggered trauma within her, and as she eventually gave birth to twelve pups, she found herself in a tremendously challenging position.
Just when hope seemed lost for Dove, Rita Earl Blackwell, a volunteer from Los Angeles, California, arrived. The moment Rita laid eyes on Dove in her small kennel, this compassionate animal lover sprang into action to save her life.
The Shelter Environment Wasn’t Secure For Her Vulnerable Family
For several days, Rita frequented the shelter to instill hope in Dove. Simultaneously, she began sharing appeals on her social media to assist this unfortunate dog in finding an escape route.
“I feel so heartbroken thinking about her needing to give birth alone in the shelter. In those crowded and noisy kennels. They are frigid. I worry about the babies trying to survive in there,” Rita expressed in an Instagram post.
Just a few days later, she received a reply from Pawsitive Beginnings, based in Los Angeles.
Aleks was thrilled to assist Dove and her pups. In no time, this distressed mother and her offspring were out of the shelter, embarking on a fresh journey in life.
