Living your life in a shelter is not as straightforward as one may presume.
Although you are encircled by amazing personnel and volunteers dedicated to ensuring you have a wonderful experience, there are times when that may not suffice.
Numerous lovable creatures confined to a shelter harbor the same aspiration – to be welcomed into a caring family.
All they yearn for is to spend time with a human they can call their own, whether that involves frolicking, playing, or simply lounging on the couch.
Regrettably, Echo has wished for these dreams far too often.
Is There Something Amiss With Me?
When a charming pup named Echo initially came to the Valley Animal Center located in Fresno, California, he was merely a little puppy. Aware that puppies typically find homes quickly, the shelter staff anticipated his stay would be short.
And, they were correct.
Just a couple of days afterward, a family completed his adoption documents and he was off. Unfortunately, his shelter narrative did not conclude there. After a while, he was brought back to the Fresno shelter, bewildered about why his forever family decided they no longer wished to keep him.
And, this incident occurred three more times. The most heart-wrenching aspect, however, is the explanation for his return.
“Echo is a youthful, high-energy dog, and we informed each family that he will demand a substantial amount of enrichment and exercise, including walks and excursions to the dog park, but every family has claimed they lack the time to train him or provide him exercise,” stated Ruben Whitney-Cantu, animal care adoption supervisor, in an interview.
Whitney-Cantu additionally disclosed that his first placement lasted a mere eight months while the second endured ten. Tragically, his third adoption was just a couple of days
Ultimately, his final adoption lasted ten fleeting months.
She mentioned that although his previous owners allowed him some time to adjust, they simply couldn’t manage him because he had “too much energy” and they just lacked the time to train him.
“Echo possesses such an amazing personality; everyone he encounters is like he is reuniting with his best friend, even if he has never met that individual. He gets along well with other dogs, has lived in a household with children, and is excellent on a leash and riding in the car,” Whitney-Cantu remarked.
Seeking A Home
Due to the continuous shifts between his new residences and the shelter, Echo is not faring well.
He has begun to bark out of anxiety, and whenever he perceives someone approaching his kennel, he becomes utterly frightened. This is particularly surprising given that he enjoys being in company outside.
Each individual in the shelter is working diligently to assist this sweet boy in overcoming his trauma and discovering a home where he will finally belong.
“Since Echo is such a sociable dog, there aren’t numerous obstacles for his upcoming home. He is not a flawless dog, but with a bit of effort, attention, and dedication, he will become a fantastic companion and pet for someone out there,” she added.
If you are someone capable of providing a home where this delightful pup can truly express himself, please reach out to the shelter for further details.
Be the human who demonstrates to sweet Echo that he is cherished.
