The level of determination and zest they exhibit can hardly be expressed, and all we can manage is to commend their remarkable fortitude.
A particular tale originates from Florida. A two-legged canine, Noelle, has faced numerous obstacles throughout her life, yet she has never once surrendered! This miraculous pup has been defying the odds since the day she entered this world, and she doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon!
Noelle’s Background
Cheri and Ward Wells, enthusiasts of dogs and devoted rescuers for special-needs canines from LoveyLoaves, located in Orlando, Florida, received a call regarding Noelle approximately five years ago.
The call came on the eve of Christmas Eve, when a family notified them about a litter of Chi puppies facing some congenital issues. Only a few weeks old, small Noelle, who was one of the group, was brought into this world without front legs.
Her mother abandoned her and showed no interest in providing care, leading the family to opt for surrendering her to a shelter. Cheri and Ward acted swiftly, immediately taking Noelle into their short-term foster haven.
“It’s far too soon for her to be away from her mother, but the alternatives were dire. Hence, we named our new Christmas angel Noelle and have been feeding her with a bottle constantly, showering her with affection,” shared LoveyLoaves in a post on Facebook.
Noelle needed extensive care from the very start. She required being bottle-fed with formula every few hours, and the couple did everything within their power to support this tiny pup.
A few weeks later, Noelle began experiencing tremors, vomiting, and difficulty breathing. The couple administered nebulizer treatments for a period to prevent pneumonia, but just days later, the tests revealed that she was intolerant to dairy.
Cheri and Ward felt relieved knowing her condition was not severe, and now Noelle was prepared to embrace her puppyhood to its fullest!
Motivating Journey
At first, she lacked knowledge on how to mobilize. All she managed was to inch and shove her way around, leaving the couple uncertain about her ability to move at all.
Cheri and Ward devised a plan to obtain specially-designed wheels for Noelle. They were eager to initiate the process quickly, so it would feel instinctual for her – and they were correct!
Though she required some time to learn to navigate them, she soon accepted her wheels as if she had always had them!
Ultimately, Noelle began running outdoors and relishing her freedom with other dogs. It was a profoundly moving sight to witness her finally navigate (almost) without hindrances.
The most significant achievement was her finally mastering how to eat from an elevated food bowl.
Once a shy girl out of her comfort zone, Noelle has transformed into a self-assured pup excited to embark on new quests. She found the confidence she longed for and soon became the matriarch of the household.
She even commenced bouncing on and off the bed, seeking cuddles from her guardians.
Recognizing her essential role in their lives, Cheri and Ward understood they couldn’t part with Noelle. This motivating Chi became a remarkable foster fail and ultimately found her everlasting home – beside her mom and dad.
Currently, Noelle captivates hearts wherever she ventures. She even took on the role of a special-needs dog ambassador!
“We couldn’t have a more perfect ambassador for dogs with special needs than this little chi. She is incredibly calm, patient, accepting, tolerant, and a plethora of other descriptors towards everyone,” the LL team expressed on Facebook.
Noelle will continue to bring joy to her guardians with each new day. And, we genuinely hope she continues to enjoy the finest life!
