The tale of Sherio isn’t precisely the most joyful one you will encounter on the web these days… This unfortunate pup was deserted multiple times by his previous families and spent the majority of his life in shelters. Additionally, this unfortunate fellow is deaf and somewhat blind, and he certainly couldn’t survive on his own…
Nevertheless, when Sheryl, his forever mother, ultimately adopted him, this remarkable champion not only adjusted splendidly, but he also began acting as the most reliable and compassionate foster!
It seems that his unfortunate and challenging past has shaped him into a lovely, sensitive companion who simply wishes to comfort those experiencing similar hardships. And indeed, he accomplished that!
Sherio Has Been Adopted Four Times

Regrettably, Sherio wasn’t always a joyful, untroubled dog who possessed everything he required. He spent most of his childhood and adult years in shelters and foster residences. To be more precise, he has been in two shelters and has even had twelve different foster homes. But, that’s not the entirety of it!
Four distinct families endeavored to adopt this white boy and transform him into a family pet, yet each one of them returned him to the place they discovered him.
It appears that his deafness and blindness were simply too overwhelming for his previous rescuers…
The sorrowful fate of Sherio is truly heart-wrenching. All those relocations and fluctuations have inflicted serious separation anxiety and trauma upon him. He would tremble every time he entered a car – and it’s easy to see why.
However, everything was destined to alter with Sheryl Smith, the next rescuer…

Sherio ultimately discovered his permanent home in 2018 when Sheryl adopted him. She instantly adored his radiant smile and those gentle eyes. She simply could not comprehend why anyone would ever abandon such a beautifully-tempered pup.
Of course, he faced some challenging moments during vet visits, as he was fearful she would leave him again, but aside from that – he was nothing short of a wonderful boy!
The best aspect was – unexpectedly, and with no formal training, he took it upon himself to care for all the foster creatures Sheryl would sometimes bring home. He would protect them, shower them with kisses and licks, and do anything necessary to ensure they’re comfortable.
The Best Foster Dad Ever

Even though he ensured every foster animal felt safe and cherished in their cozy home – Sherio developed a particular bond with foster cats.
He was consistently patient and well-behaved towards them. He’d allow them to snuggle next to him, to climb on him, and even tease him occasionally. He simply cherished every moment with new family members, showcasing no signs of disturbance.
Sherio was genuinely joyful to finally possess a home…
Sherio Suffered From Seven Different Cancers

One of the most dreadful days in Sheryl’s life was when she discovered a lump on Sherio’s back once more. Regrettably, after having previously overcome cancer, he was diagnosed with seven different kinds of progressive cancer in 2022.
He underwent regular chemotherapy and radiation treatments, yet still managed to maintain his cheerful demeanor and shower love upon his family.
Sadly, months after dealing with cancer, Sherio passed away. Even though he was cancer-free by the summer of 2022, his immune system was simply too depleted from all the chemotherapy and radiation.
It goes without saying – Sheryl and her entire family were heartbroken. Their white, four-legged companion was no longer there…
“I can’t believe he’s gone… He leaped off the bed to greet the vet and passed away while giving me kisses,” Sheryl expressed on her Facebook.
Rest In Peace, Champ

Sheryl endured a challenging few months coming to terms with Sherio’s passing…
She pondered the best way to pay tribute to her beloved boy when an idea struck her – she wished to adopt another puppy and carry on the tradition of rescuing abandoned dogs. This way, she would constantly be able to remember her dear foster boy – Sherio.
