Carrying a child is one of the most demanding times in a woman’s journey.
Nonetheless, I want to emphasize that expecting dogs encounter the same whirlwind of sentiments and transformations as humans do. It’s challenging to nurture one puppy, let alone five, six, seven, or even additional ones.
You need to comprehend us, ladies, regardless of our type. A pregnant female requires to feel supported at all times.
Simultaneously, this remarkable phase is filled with tender, lovable emotions, anticipating the arrival of our tiny ones.
When Poppy became aware she was expecting, she never anticipated the most beautiful moment of her life to occur on the streets of North Carolina’s Wake Forest. However, Poppy wasn’t wandering the streets, shopping, or relishing life.
Poppy was without a home.
The seasoned mother was aware of what was imminent. Her offspring would enter a world where their mother was unwelcomed.
She lacked shelter. There was no promising future for this canine family.
All Poppy could contemplate was where to deliver and how to care for them when she regained her stability.
Overwhelmed by such emotions, Poppy scarcely realized that something wonderful was on the verge of happening for her and her soon-to-arrive pups.

Employees from Saving Grace North Carolina rescued Poppy when she was heavily pregnant. They recognized that this lovely girl was about to deliver soon.
Yet, this didn’t deter Carter Cifelli from fostering Poppy. She was aware of the challenges but couldn’t bear the thought of leaving such a precious dog at the shelter. Carter felt obligated to bring Poppy into her home and provide her with all the affection she had been deprived of.
“She primarily just wanted to relax, and I concentrated on allowing her to acclimate to her surroundings and ensuring she received proper nutrition,” stated Carter.
The pooch, who had known nothing but hardship, was finally enjoying a better life, all thanks to Carter.
The subsequent days were relatively peaceful, filled with relaxation, cuddling, and relishing the cozy environment. Nothing hinted that soon, significant changes were about to unfold.
On the morning when Carter and Poppy rose, everything seemed normal; they enjoyed a hearty breakfast, followed by some sunbathing in the backyard.
Both were appreciating the lovely weather when Poppy chose to perch on one of the garden chairs for comfort. Attempts to coax Poppy indoors were unproductive. She remained on the chair for about 10 minutes.
Carter then determined it was time to go inside, as the sun was growing too warm. But first, she wanted to capture a picture of Poppy. She looked so adorable and serene. It was an ideal photo opportunity.
“She’s difficult to photograph because she prefers to be right beside me,” Carter remarked. “I thought it was odd that she wasn’t moving! When I got really close to her, she turned her head and started licking something on the chair’s seat.”
The unintentional maternity photo session took an unexpected twist.
Why was Poppy so motionless? What was she gazing at?
And that’s when realization dawned on Carter.
“That’s when I noticed there was a puppy there!”
Carter had no moment to be astonished. One of the puppies had already arrived, and the others could follow at any moment. She swiftly moved them indoors, thrilled to welcome the young ones into the world.
It wasn’t long before the rest of the litter followed. Poppy was a courageous mother, giving birth to a total of seven puppies.
“She was incredibly composed,” Carter exclaimed. “I’m sure she has given birth before, and she definitely looks like a seasoned parent. She remained very calm during the delivery and instinctively knew what to do. There were no complications, and all her puppies were healthy!”
A delivery that started merely as a casual occurrence turned into an uncomplicated one. Poppy and her young ones were thriving, all alive and in good health.
It seems Poppy had an instinct that everything would be fine. Perhaps that’s why she felt secure enough to give birth in a garden chair.
Fortunately, Carter was a well-versed foster mother, having assisted numerous dog mothers in delivering right in her home.
The newcomers even received some pretty distinct names. The four male pups were named Ranch, Dijon, Honey Mustard, Sesame, and Tahini. Meanwhile, the females embraced their names, Balsamic, and Vinaigrette.
Simultaneously, Carter welcomed another expecting dog mother, Cadence. She also gave birth to a sizable litter.
This is them – 16 siblings that grew up together, forming a blended family teeming with puppy affection.
