Certain pups just have to hold on a bit longer than others for their forever family. Yet, when the moment finally arrives – all those long nights and days spent in anticipation for that remarkable occasion become just a memory!
Consider Major, as an illustration! For some mysterious reason, this incredible boy found himself in a shelter for over a year until his destined human showed up at the door.
It was a lengthy journey filled with optimistic tail-wagging toward possible adopters, but the moment ultimately came, and this black-and-white pup couldn’t contain his joy!
Major And His Sibling Rescued From Euthanasia
Prior to becoming the beloved pet of many at the Naperville Area Humane Society, Major, the 3-year-old pup, along with his sibling, Hilo, were located at a nearby shelter in Quincy, Illinois.
As stated by the NAHS personnel, if they had not been rescued promptly, both dogs would have faced euthanasia.
Major and Hilo are recognized for their quirky and spirited personalities! They both exhibit sociable and affectionate traits towards everyone at the shelter, and they absolutely adore engaging in playful activities!
Recently, the NAHS team shared a video featuring Major and Hilo, showcasing their charming natures and highlighting their significant traits.
“This weekend marks their official 365-day stay at NAHS, and we can’t comprehend the reason behind it. Thus, we compiled this video with contributions from our staff and volunteers, those who are most familiar with them, to showcase all the wonderful attributes they possess,” the team expressed.
Ignored Without Justifiable Cause
No one at the shelter could fathom why each possible adopter dismissed Major, as there was no justifiable reason for him not to be adopted! Along with being an exceptional and amiable pup, Major has consistently exhibited good behavior and is effortless to care for as well!
Winston, a NAHS volunteer, remarks: “Don’t inform the others – he’s the smartest among them!” “He’s such a cuddle bug, and everyone here at the shelter wishes for him to find his own family,” adds Jane, another volunteer.
And, as Pam notes – “Major is the most charming little fellow.”
Besides his caretakers, Major enjoys spending time with his fellow shelter animals! Regardless of their size, disposition, or nearly every other factor – he adores them all!
The Day Has Ultimately Arrived
On a Wednesday, exactly 372 days after Major’s initial arrival at the shelter, a gentleman appeared! Jose, a semi-truck driver who had recently lost his furry companion, visited NAHS with the intention of adopting another dog.
The staff promptly identified the perfect match for him – Major! The connection was immediate, and subsequent to their first meeting – there was no longer any uncertainty! Major was undoubtedly the right choice for Jose!
The shelter personnel organized an unexpected yet extremely emotional farewell for their long-standing resident. Major had the opportunity to bid farewell to all his beloved volunteers, one after another. Afterwards – he eagerly leaped into the truck with his new dad!
It was heartwarming to witness Major snuggling against Jose through the truck window. He appeared content and joyous to finally be embraced by his forever owner. And, that grin – what an adorable sight to behold!
Boundless Adventures On The Journey
Even though his domicile is no longer in Naperville, Illinois, Major couldn’t be more thrilled to embark on new escapades with his new father!
“We just received an update from Major’s new dad informing us that Major is doing exceptionally well! Major can now leap out of the truck by himself and LOVES to cuddle with his new owner at night in the cab. We are so delighted to learn that Major is relishing his thrilling life on the road,” the NAHS shared.
He’s seizing life with full enthusiasm, transforming each day into a fresh adventure! Most importantly – his grin is a constant!
