From the instant we invite dogs into our residence, we pledge to cherish them and provide for them eternally. Surrounded by our affection, our beautiful companions develop into self-assured and joyful canines.
My heart aches each time I learn that increasing numbers of dog guardians leave their pets in perilous locations, indifferent to their fate.
Abandoned without understanding the reason, these loyal dogs hold on to the belief that their wait is just momentary and their family will return for them.
Ribbles, a devoted and gentle pup, hoped to see her owners again after they deserted her at the railway. Although risking her safety, she continued to wait for the faces of those she regarded as her family.
How long will she continue to wait? Will she ultimately discover the joy she rightfully deserves?
Believing Her Family Didn’t Desert Her
Ribbles’ family left her at a railway in Southern California. Unaware of their abandonment, she remained on the train tracks, trusting her family would return her home.
This devoted canine didn’t concern herself with the hazards she encountered daily because she sincerely believed that her sacrifice would ultimately pay off when her family came to retrieve her.
Days passed, and she persisted in her vigil. Even though her optimism waned with each sunset, the pup never contemplated leaving the spot. She longed for her parents and could not relinquish the hope of reuniting with them.
Fortunately, a compassionate woman spotted brave Ribbles just as the pup was dodging a speeding train heading her way. The woman felt immense relief upon realizing that Ribbles had survived.
After attempting to capture her and lead her to safety, the woman reached out to Suzette Hall, the creator of Logan’s Legacy, informing her of Ribbles’ perilous predicament.
Ribbles’ Rescue Operation
Hall quickly jumped into her vehicle and sped to rescue the pup. Upon reaching the railway, she spotted Ribbles on the tracks.
While Hall remained there, a train passed five times, and she observed that each time a train approached, Ribbles would retreat into a small crevice in the fence.
Upon further examination, the rescuer discovered that the crevice led to a car dealership’s premises. She conversed with the employees and learned that they fed the abandoned canine daily and allowed her to rest on their property.
The staff were exceedingly considerate and permitted Hall to set a humane trap within the establishment. She placed Ribbles’ food inside a crate and waited for the pup to venture inside.
Noticing that the dog was reluctant to approach the crate in her presence, Hall opted to give her some space and return the following day.
Upon her return the next morning, she spotted something on the train tracks. Fearing the worst about Ribbles, her heart shattered at the sight and she dashed over to investigate.
She breathed a sigh of relief when she discovered that it was merely coyotes scavenging for scraps.
When the rescuer checked the trap, joy overwhelmed her as she found the sweet pup inside. Ribbles was at last rescued.
Hall transported her to Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine, California. The veterinarian informed her that the pup was suffering from a severe ear infection and had a swollen elbow and leg.
She was devastated to learn that this sweet dog had to bear such suffering while waiting alone at the railway.
Hall was profoundly moved by Ribbles’ courage. Living on the train tracks and near the coyotes, she faced danger each day, yet she survived.
The devotion and love for her family were far more powerful than her trepidation.
Finding Her Place Under The Sun
Following her full recovery, the loyal dog with angelic eyes discovered her forever home.
Upon seeing her, her new family fell hopelessly in love with her. In that moment, they realized she was meant to be theirs.
Ribbles adopted the name Lucy, and she is now enjoying life in Joshua Tree, enveloped by the boundless affection of her family. She has a dog sister, and together they relish hiking adventures with their loved ones.
We are overjoyed to learn that beloved Lucy has found her niche in the sun, receiving the love and attention all dogs deserve.
