You never know where your next rescue is going to originate from. However, you definitely know that you’ll do everything in your ability to assist the unfortunate animal in distress!
Any worthy animal enthusiast abides by this saying. Regardless of how challenging it may appear at times, allowing an animal in distress to struggle alone is simply not an option.
Regrettably, that is not the reality for those individuals who continually abandon these four-legged beings in the most dreadful of circumstances. Just recently, an entire litter of puppies was discovered on the slopes of Idaho’s Owyhee Mountains.
A couple of hikers heard the pitiful sounds emanating from a nearby plastic container, and the heartbreaking sight left them devastated…
Emaciated, Dehydrated, And Yearning For Affection
The trekkers could hardly contain their astonishment as they neared the box. Realizing that someone could undertake such a heartless act was unfathomable. Yet, there they were, all seven of them, pleading for assistance from a large, black container.
The pups were severely malnourished and dehydrated. Although it wasn’t entirely clear how long they had been in the mountains, it was abundantly evident that they required help – immediately.
The compassionate hikers wasted no time and swiftly sprang into action. They reached out to several rescue organizations in the vicinity, but regrettably, none could accommodate these precious souls.
Then, the wonderful individuals from Lake Lowell Animal Rescue, based in Idaho, came forward!
“We had a surprise with 7 emaciated, dehydrated puppies who were discovered left behind in a secluded area in a box,” LLAR posted on Facebook.
They, too, were inundated with new pups entering their rescue, yet they simply could not bear the thought of leaving these forsaken puppies without support.
Once the seven were transported to their facility, they all received veterinary attention. And, before long, their true character began to emerge!
The Community At Its Finest
After they adjusted to their new surroundings, the puppies gradually began to emerge from their shells. Their conduct indicated that they had experienced human interaction previously, as they were all remarkably affable and highly loving.
Once they were properly nourished and cared for, these pups quickly captured everyone’s hearts with their lively antics and became the center of attention at the rescue.
Incredible news came just a few days later! The community quickly became aware of the puppies’ poignant tale, triggering an influx of food and toy donations pouring into the rescue.
“The packages of puppy food and toys we requested a few days ago have started to arrive, and we are so thankful, we were brought to tears multiple times. We have never experienced anything like this with puppies before. It’s unbelievable, everyone. We are so grateful these kiddos were rescued in time,” they shared on Facebook.
These valiant little creatures soon found their way to temporary foster homes, and the rescue expressed immense gratitude!
Melissa Blackmer and her outstanding team were extremely appreciative of those opening their homes (and hearts) to these vulnerable puppies.
“We cannot stress enough how vital foster homes are to animal rescue organizations. We rely on fostering just as much as we do on their permanent homes,” she informed The Dodo.
For the time being, the puppies will remain with their foster families until they are finally prepared to move on to forever homes.
When that moment arrives, they will embark on a new journey they so richly deserve and bring joy to some humans! Most importantly, they will never have to face abandonment again.
