Most individuals believe that the existence of a puppy is the greatest thing imaginable.
They are not only incredibly endearing, but they are also looked after around the clock. Their mothers ensure they are clean and nourished, while their human companions make sure they have everything they may need.
This extends to an abundance of affection and care.
Sadly, this is not always the reality.
Numerous puppies enter this world in profoundly distressing situations, compelled to survive on their own after being abandoned by someone who no longer desires them. The pup featured in today’s tale is quite familiar with this predicament.
Born A Bit Different
A small puppy, now referred to as Trip, was born a bit differently.
He had what is known as a chicken leg – a skeletal limb malformation likely resulting from abnormal bone development due to rapid growth, trauma, or injury to the dog’s growth plate.
This led Trip’s breeder to consider him unsellable and they resolved to euthanize the unfortunate puppy.
After being rescued by a local organization, they transported the pup to an animal clinic where a remarkable woman named Lydia worked. Recognizing that this charming pup had a promising future ahead of him, they opted against proceeding with euthanasia.
“Our team concluded that amputation would be the most suitable solution for him. I was the one who brought him out of anesthesia, and he came home with me because I couldn’t bear to let him go anywhere else,” Lydia revealed to We Love Animals.
It took merely a few moments for the two to utterly fall for one another. Thus, it was no surprise when Lydia chose to adopt Trip.
The Start Of Something New
At that time, Lydia was an intern at a New Jersey firm, 3D Pets, that creates and fabricates mobility solutions tailored to pets and their particular needs.
“Once Trip had recuperated from his surgery, we brought him into our office where we utilized our scanner to navigate around him and capture his form. We were able to fabricate a jacket that was fully customized to him, for his convenience,” she continued.
Initially, it wasn’t particularly simple to persuade Trip to utilize his device as he preferred rolling around on the floor continuously.
Fortunately, his caring family discovered that by using a tennis ball to engage him, they could encourage him to move and ultimately utilize his prosthetic leg.
When Trip matured into a fully-grown dog, Lydia provided him with the final prosthetic that permitted him to take his initial walk.
“Before that, I would only transport him in a wagon since he would tire too quickly and couldn’t keep pace with the other dogs. Once he obtained his prosthetic, he was able to accompany me and we went hiking together,” she mentioned.
Since that moment, this lovely boy has been enjoying a joyful and vigorous life. He loves spending time at the dog park, racing about, and playing with his furry companions.
None of this would have been achievable without Lydia and 3D Pets, where she currently holds the position of director.
Not only was she capable of granting Trip the life he always dreamed of, but she also provided that same opportunity to any other animal requiring assistance in walking.
