Time was undeniably not an ally for him.
Alan had mere seconds to make a choice that could save Pearl’s existence and just 24 hours to reach her in Los Angeles.
When you require it the most, time appears to flow through your grasp. It escapes.
Pearl was the first in line to be euthanized. This gentle Pitbull had no moments remaining. Alan was her sole hope.
Could this courageous individual arrive in time?
Will Pearl be rescued and finally presented with a nurturing home?
Every Minute Matters
It was still early in the day when Alan arrived at the airport with a case in his grip and one thought occupying his mind: Pearl, the Pitbull destined for euthanasia that he was about to save.
The journey should be straightforward; board the plane, disembark, and dash to the shelter to collect Pearl. The individual working at the shelter assured that Pearl would be held until 3:30 PM that same day. Everything appeared to be in order.
Brimming with hope and anticipation that Pearl would finally find her safe haven, Alan touched down in Los Angeles.
However, obstacles soon began to arise. The traffic was outrageous. It was an utter chaos one typically experiences in LA. Alan was accelerating, anxious that he would miss his window.
“I’ve been ringing the shelter non-stop, just verifying that everything is alright. You know, I am on my way, so I’m hoping to arrive on time,” Alan stated in the video for The Dodo.
Luckily, he arrived with merely a few minutes to spare. It was close, but Alan’s endeavor was a triumph.
Pearl was being safeguarded for Alan until 3:30 that day. She commenced her freedom stroll at 3:25!
If the traffic had been any worse, or had he stopped at a gas station, Alan would’ve been tardy, and Pearl would’ve been lost forever.
Freedom is Incredibly Sweet
Pearl is such a stunning girl. Her sweet nature truly radiated, and Alan noticed it the instant he took her home.
After enduring all this time at the shelter, experiencing the torment of not being free and with affectionate humans, Pearl deserved something wonderful. Alan was aware of exactly how to pamper the beautiful Pittie lady.
He treated her to her inaugural In-N-Out burgers, the finest in the city. It. was. mouthwatering.
Pearl savored her first meal of freedom that was unlike anything she had tasted before.
But, that was not the end of it. Alan had more plans to indulge Pearl. He whisked her off for a shopping spree for toys. The poor girl appeared as if it was her debut experience shopping for dog toys. It likely was.
And, to cap off such a remarkable day, Alan brought Pearl to a spacious, dog-friendly hotel room where she could finally rest on the bed like a true royalty. She sprawled out on the soft mattress, feeling secure for the very first time in her life.
Farewell Feels Bittersweet
Alan’s endeavor was to liberate Pearl from euthanasia and bring her to her forever family. He was confident she would fit in seamlessly wherever she went.
“She nestled into my arms as we rested, preparing for her journey… one that would lead her to a family she could call her own! I had never witnessed such a vast smile, or experienced such a tight embrace… it warmed my heart on an unusually frigid winter, California night,” Alan remarked on his Instagram.
That morning, the voyage to the airport was smooth and devoid of any congestion. It was a striking contrast to Alan’s earlier arrival.
This time, time could not pass quickly enough. Every moment with Pearl felt too brief.
At the airport, Pearl’s forever family awaited her: a kind boy and his mother.
Pearl’s new household boasts a large residence with ample land for her and her two canine siblings to roam freely. It’s paradise for dogs.
Alan receives frequent news about this sweet Pittie and her well-being. And, she is thriving splendidly.
If Alan had been tardy by just five minutes, Pearl would not be here today. This heroic man didn’t hesitate to cover the cost of a plane ticket to LA. He bore the journey and the demanding drive. All he focused on was rescuing Pearl.
