Princess, an injured dog, also needed assistance as she lay vulnerable in the blistering sun. She wished for someone to come to her aid.

Awaiting Her Champion
One scorching summer afternoon, while Kaye Fiorello was driving along a highway in Tennessee, she spotted a police vehicle parked on the roadside.
Initially, she dismissed it and continued on her route. Soon, she observed something that instantly grabbed her attention and compelled her to exit the vehicle.
“A mile down the road, this little dog’s head appeared on the side of the street. She appeared to have been there for a while,” Fiorello remarked.
She felt disheartened to see the pup helplessly lying under the oppressive heat without the energy to rise.
Fiorello realized she had to assist her. After recalling the officer she noticed earlier, she promptly turned her vehicle around and retraced her path.
Once he learned that a stranded pup required his assistance, the concerned police officer requested Fiorello to lead him to her.
Upon arriving, their hearts broke when they discovered that the pup was hurt.
With her eyes filled with fear, the dog appeared dejected. She had lost all faith that anyone would come to save her.
The officer attempted to approach her, but seeing her terrified demeanor, he chose to earn her trust first. He contemplated ways to make her feel at ease. After providing her with food and water, he felt driven to sit beside her.
He was determined to stay until she was prepared to trust him.
The police officer contacted animal control. While awaiting their arrival, he opened an umbrella and held it over the pup, trying his utmost to shield her from the blazing sun.
Noticing that someone cared, the pup’s eyes sparkled with hope and happiness. Her expression brightened, and she smiled.
Fiorello was astonished by the kindness and compassion that the officer showed to the frightened pup.
“She appeared to exhale a contented dog sigh. And those doe eyes — the transformation was remarkable. They connected. It was intense. I shed some happy tears for that girl.”
After determining that the dog was being cared for, Fiorello proceeded on her journey.

Fiorello felt even more joy upon learning that the police officer formed a bond with the pup to the extent that he couldn’t envision his life without her.
He resolved to adopt the sweet canine, naming her Princess.
She now has a father who will always safeguard her and treasure her. Filled with immense gratitude for being united, they will celebrate each other with affection.
