As a gentleman drove by an elementary school in Austin, Texas, a disheartening sight caught his eye.
A lady scooped up her dog, bent over a fence, and abandoned her in a children’s playground. The man was taken aback. He promptly pulled over and confronted the woman.
She asserted that she had tried to bring the dog to a shelter but was refused entry.
Once her owner departed, the puppy began to whimper and dashed back and forth, attempting to follow her.
After the woman was out of view, the furry baby felt despondent. She sat by the fence, gazing into the distance with a sorrowful look on her face.
A Couple Consoles The Heartbroken Furbaby
The compassionate man who observed the distressing event tried to speak to the dog, doing everything he could to reassure her. He called his spouse, Maddy Cantu, who arrived shortly thereafter.
Upon seeing the forsaken pup, she was deeply touched by the sadness reflected in her eyes. She couldn’t believe that someone could have abandoned such an adorable dog.
Even though the pup was frightened, the couple succeeded in building her trust.
Cantu cradled her in her arms, and together with her husband, they brought the pup home. They decided to foster her until they could find her a loving permanent family.
After Cantu and her spouse took the dog home, they provided her with a warm bath.
The puppy, later named Daisy, remained anxious, trembling. Cantu held her on her lap and lavished her with cuddles and love.
As Cantu and her spouse continued to shower Daisy with the affection she deserved, she started to feel more at ease. She cherished lying in her cozy bed and spending time with her foster parents.
The pup grew attached to them and began giving them kisses.
Daisy Feels Valued And Adored
Even though the couple’s original intention was to foster Daisy temporarily, they found themselves unable to resist her affectionate nature. They fell for her and recognized that letting her go was not an option. Daisy became a permanent part of their family.
“We eventually realized that Daisy was sent to us for a purpose, as she belongs with our family,“ Cantu expressed in her TikTok video.
Daisy’s forever guardians took her to a veterinary clinic, where she received a clean bill of health.
The vet estimated that the pup was three to four months old and thought that Daisy was a mix of German Shepherd and Great Pyrenees.
Initially, Lilo, her older canine sister, was uncertain about Daisy, but now they have started to bond.
“Lilo was aloof at first, but as it became evident that we were keeping Daisy, she began to feel jealous. Since then, she’s warmed to her, and we ensure Lilo receives plenty of love and attention to keep her content,” Cantu shared with Newsweek.
Daisy relishes her life with her family in Austin, Texas. Their affection helped her heal from the trauma of abandonment. Her new guardians demonstrated that she is deserving of love.
Her eyes sparkle brightly, and her tail keeps wagging. She understands that she has discovered her joy.
