While I absolutely adore witnessing adorable animals secure their forever homes, it frequently strikes me that numerous individuals wish to adopt a pet only if they possess a particular appearance.
This signifies that many furry companions are ignored by prospective adopters simply because they appear ‘different’. This is particularly prominent for animals with impairments.
That’s the reason when Lauren spotted one remarkable puppy in a litter, she understood she had to take him in herself.
Introducing Charles
When someone delivered a box of charming puppies to an animal shelter, the staff were thrilled by their adorableness.
Nonetheless, one of the employees, a lady named Lauren, realized that one of the puppies was blind.
“Immediately I thought ‘No one is going to want a puppy without eyes.’ It’s really challenging to secure homes for them. So I adopted him, and I fostered him,” Lauren shared with The Dodo.
Initially, the puppy, now known as Charles, faced some challenges in learning how to exist.
He frequently crashed into objects as he attempted to orient himself in his environment. However, Lauren devised a little trick for him.
“Everywhere I went I would create these clicking sounds, and his ears would perk up, and he would just gallop over to me. He truly regarded me as his Seeing Eye human,” she mentioned.
As he matured, Charles discovered that he could merely listen for Lauren’s footsteps and follow them. There was no need for her to make those clicking sounds constantly.
With the passage of time, Lauren and Charles became inseparable.
From playing with her all day to snoozing atop her head, this adorable pup truly found his human.
Too Hard to Say Farewell
Since the loss of Lauren’s heart dog, Tasi, she has felt an emptiness in her heart that seemed unfillable. However, with Charles entering her life, she experienced an indescribable sense of solace that assisted her in moving forward.
Thus, when Charles was set to leave his family and embark on a flight taking him to a new existence, Lauren wasn’t prepared to let go.
“We made the decision to officially adopt Charles. My family was incredibly delighted that we opted to keep Charles. I truly couldn’t envision life without him,” she concluded.
And that’s how the story goes!
Charles is now enjoying the life he always dreamed of.
Surrounded by humans who not only overwhelm him with affection and admiration but also enabled him to forget about his disability truly illuminated this mom’s heart!
