If you’ve ever been at a shelter filled with numerous dogs, you understand that it can become a bit daunting seeing all those canines behind kennel bars and providing them with an equal share of attention.
The furry residents at the shelter spend their time eagerly wishing someone would acknowledge them.
However, one dog at the Brooklyn ACC shelter was particularly keen on attention and had promptly devised a rather inventive method to attract visitors to her door.
Barbie – an exquisite 6-month-old pup, beautiful both inside and out – swiftly captured the hearts of every individual who encountered her.
Barbie Captivating Hearts
Stationed at the Animal Care Center (ACC) in Brooklyn, New York, a gorgeous 6-month-old dog named Barbie resolved to take charge of her situation (literally) and diligently work towards securing the ideal forever home.
Barbie was surrendered to the shelter by her past owner, following a landlord complaint and due to the lack of time to care for two puppies of that same age.
The shelter stated that her previous family characterized her as “friendly, affectionate, occasionally afraid, and highly energetic.”
Despite being relatively young, this clever and sociable puppy quickly discovered a tactic to persuade people to pause at her kennel and interact with her.
Barbie would charmingly extend her paws through the kennel bars, thus promptly gaining the attention of those passing by who would then stop to engage in some playtime with her.
The Brooklyn ACC shelter (Boroughbred in Brooklyn) shared a post about Barbie on their Instagram, “Barbie welcomes me in her kennel with her rear in the air, tippy tapping, and hoping it’s her turn to take a break from her kennel (…) She reaches her paws through the kennel bars to engage in pattycake, and that seals the deal.”
It didn’t take long for everyone at the shelter to become enamored with Barbie.
ACC volunteer, Manisha Shah, revealed to The Dodo, “She loved bouncing around in the yard, pouncing on balls and stuffed toys, snuggling with us on the bench, and we adored her curiosity about everything.”
With her cute appearance and delightful demeanor, everyone was optimistic that Barbie would quickly find a forever home.
She Was Quickly Adopted
Boroughbred in Brooklyn shared a brief video on their Instagram account regarding Barbie, her tale, and her distinctive habit of stretching her paws through the kennel bars to garner attention from visitors.
