Upon receiving a call regarding a terrified pooch discovered near a roadway on July 5th, Mitchell County Animal Rescue, Inc., located in Northern California, presumed that she had likely fled in fear due to the fireworks from the previous evening.
Yet, they were astonished to discover that they had located a dog that had been absent for over a month.
Terrified Dog
A couple who were observing the Northern California fireworks on July 4th noticed an animal scurry beneath their vehicle; initially, they believed it was a fox. However, they quickly realized it was actually a small dog.
“She appeared truly terrified,” stated Marilyn Williams.
The couple encountered significant difficulty in coaxing the frightened dog out from beneath, but through their determination, they ultimately succeeded in encouraging her to emerge and leap into their vehicle on her own.
The couple took the dog to their residence for the night, providing her with food, water, and basic first-aid for a cut on her muzzle.
She remained very quiet and shy, never barking at all. She didn’t make a sound.
At the Shelter
As dawn broke the following morning, the couple transported the puppy to the Mitchell County Animal Shelter, hoping that the staff could assist in reuniting the lost pup with her owner.
Upon seeing the dog’s face, the staff were astonished.
Noticing a missing poster of an elderly dog named Fiona, who had vanished a month prior, affixed to their entrance, they quickly recognized that this dog resembled her precisely.
They promptly scanned her microchip, confirming that it was indeed her!
Reunion
They quickly contacted her owner, delivering the wonderful news, and once she arrived at the shelter, Fiona was unable to restrain her joy.
Fiona was finally reunited in the warm arms of her owner, and she radiated happiness.
The Williams family felt immense joy as well, although they couldn’t help but feel a bit of longing for the sweet little pup they had fostered that night.
It’s just a truly joyful conclusion to an extraordinary story.
