Our animals are essential members of our household, and that should remain unchanged. Consequently, we often connect with them just as we do with our family, if not deeper and more profoundly.
This is precisely the reason why it is perpetually challenging and distressing for us, and even more for the canine, when we part ways with them for any circumstance.
One contributing factor is that the dog, driven by its instinct to explore, can easily become lost and feel uncertain about how to navigate back home.
This was the scenario that unfolded for Theresa Hobson and her family, followed by an extensive and arduous separation lasting three long years.

Everyone Sought to Assist The Pup
A dog called Ella unexpectedly found herself in an unfamiliar place. Though she longed to reunite with her mother, Theresa, and the rest of the family, it all appeared to be a distant memory.
After roaming for an extended period, she stumbled upon a site near a building where Butler Toyota was located in Indianapolis, IN.
The staff there quickly spotted her and immediately recognized that she was lost and distressed, so they were eager to assist her.
“Everyone wanted to assist her, so we placed food out, but she wouldn’t come near,” explained one of the employees at the firm.
They were unaware of where this dog originated from or what her tale was. However, it was likely that Ella would act in this manner, considering she had suddenly found herself on the streets, far from the affection that her family had previously lavished upon her.
However, this did not deter the employees who came to work each day from doing everything they could to assist this distressed dog. Thus, for almost three years, they provided her with food daily, making it easier for her to linger outside their business.
Her Family Never Gave Up Hope
Ella’s loved ones, who were without her, felt incredibly sorrowful, and they were oblivious to the fact that someone was caring for their cherished dog.
Nonetheless, Theresa never relinquished her belief that her dog was still alive.
Throughout the frigid winter months, she regularly placed food outside, clinging to the glimmer of hope that one evening, she might catch a glimpse of Ella’s familiar face waiting at the doorway.
“Each time I set out the food, my heart clung to the hope that she might be out there and find her way home,” Theresa shared. “The notion of her enduring the cold winter nights alone was heart-wrenching.”
When three years had passed and her hope began to wane, hope proved to be resilient. Six miles away from her residence, her beloved fur baby was at last discovered.
The Most Exuberant Moment Of Reunion
The pivotal moment for Ella and her family arrived when the Humane Society for Hamilton County became involved.
With assistance from Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside – FIDO, they were finally able to secure poor Ella.
The simple act of examining for a microchip was the key to the reunion Theresa had sincerely yearned for.
On a Saturday morning, after being notified by the Humane Society, Ella was transported from her home in Indianapolis to the organization’s headquarters.
It was a moment of sheer joy and elation that cannot be captured in mere words. Following so many desperate years, a bond that had never broken ultimately reached its zenith and emerged even stronger.
Ella was at last returning home to those whose hearts had been vacant over the past three years, eagerly awaiting her embrace.
“It’s simply so hard to comprehend,” Theresa remarked, “Three years is an eternity…”
As unbelievable as it may seem, dreams turned into reality this time. Ella, Theresa, and the entire family finally witnessed their dreams fulfilled.
