When the personnel at The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County encountered Little Bear, an adorable, blind puppy, for the initial time, they instantly fell head-over-heels for him.
The cute puppy was saved from the streets. He required a significant amount of affection and a nurturing environment.
The shelter team reached out to Lee Asher, a dog rescuer and the creator of The Asher House, a charitable animal sanctuary. They were certain that Asher would also fall for Little Bear and invited him to meet the puppy.
Kelly Hill, a member of The Asher House, visited the Washington shelter to bring him home. She transported the sweet puppy to Oregon to meet Asher.
Little Bear Meets His Dad
Once Asher laid eyes on Little Bear, he was overcome with love. The charming Chow Chow resembled a Teddy bear, and he immediately captured Asher’s heart.
Asher cradled him and embraced him. The dear dog nestled into his embrace and rested his adorable, fluffy head against Asher’s shoulder.
He gripped Asher’s arm with his tiny paw. Neither Asher nor Little Bear wished to release one another.
From the very first moment he was embraced by Asher, Little Bear sensed that he had found his home.
Asher continuously pondered how anyone could have deserted him. Little Bear was the most affectionate boy. Although he was an adult dog, he seemed like a puppy.
Asher showered his head with kisses, expressing his love for him. He vowed to become his forever father.
“I love you! You never have to be concerned again,” Asher stated in a video he shared on Instagram.
While Asher was holding Little Bear, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he must be dreaming.
Both Little Bear and his father were softening in each other’s embrace. Asher proclaimed that he was ‘deeply in love’ with the puppy.
Hill informed him that Little Bear had micro eyes and was completely blind. He suffered from entropion, which caused his eyelids to fold inward.
Asher felt sorrowful upon discovering that this condition caused him distress. Little Bear was taking medication and required eye surgery, which would involve the removal of his eyes.
The Forever Home Of His Dreams
Asher lifted Little Bear into his vehicle and wound his arms around the beloved puppy. He wished for Little Bear to sense just how much he cherished him.
“I realize you can’t see me, but I understand you can feel me. And I adore you. That’s the love you detect,“ Asher expressed.
Asher brought him home. Little Bear needed to wait a few days before Asher introduced him to the pack. He wanted to ensure the puppy was free from kennel cough.
He cuddled with Little Bear in his bedroom. The puppy felt cherished and enjoyed the warmth of his dad’s affection. When it was bedtime, Asher tucked him in and gave him a kiss goodnight.
On the second day at his new home, Asher took Little Bear to the groomers. The pup enjoyed a refreshing bath and a grooming session.
Asher took the puppy to the veterinarian for a health examination and arranged for his eye surgery.
Following Little Bear’s surgery, he recuperated successfully. Asher felt relieved as his precious dog was free from pain and could finally relish life.
Little Bear’s Siblings Welcome Him to The Pack
The puppy was eager to meet his new siblings. Initially, Little Bear felt a tad uncertain about them.
After a few moments, he calmed down and began to engage with them. His siblings sniffed him, wagged their tails, and greeted him to the pack. Little Bear returned their affections with tiny kisses.
Other blind dogs within the pack assisted Little Bear in building his confidence. Now, the puppy enjoys hiking with the pack and discovering the outdoors. He adores his siblings, and their affection is mutual.
“He’s doing fantastic, he’s simply wonderful. I can’t express how much I cherish this dog,” Asher remarked.
Little Bear has never experienced such happiness. He possesses the ultimate forever home, a devoted father, and wonderful siblings who are there to uplift him.
Asher feels thankful and fortunate to have Little Bear as part of his life. He cherishes him.
